Sigh. I really wanted to like this place. It feels like a place stuck in time. My mother and I came here hoping to get a good quality meal. And perhaps it’s just what I ordered but everything was meh. I ordered the scallop appetizer, they were small and gritty with a peach bbq sauce that tasted like it was from a corner store. I ordered their Thursday special which they kept raving was the reason they would be busy since it’s SO good. So I ordered that. My mom ordered the veal piccata. My food was practically inedible, the meat was dry and all I could taste was salt. I took another bite hoping maybe I just didn’t get a good first bite. Nope. Dry and lacking any flavor aside from salt. My mom had the veal piccata and her food was good and I ended up eating her leftovers. After taking 2 bites I tried to catch my waitress who never checked on us after our food was dropped. After awhile and I got her attention I told her that I hate being the person to send back food but I couldn’t eat it. She apologized and took the food away. I guess my dish came with a dessert too so I had a bite or two of that and wanted the check. The only highlight of the night for me was the drinks. The dragon Martini was delicious and my mojito and margarita were tasty!! Once we got the check they still charged me for my meal that I truly didn’t eat. Which I was surprised by. A offer for something else or even a small discount could have gone a long way. But I left disappointed and still hungry. Read moreThis review is a revision of a previous review I had left for 1157 North. We celebrated our valentines dinner here and were not originally impressed. Food and service were not at, in our opinion, of quality stature. Having left our not so great review we have chosen to delete and repost a more positive review. Being in the industry as a waitress for 15 years and a current Executive Chef we may be overly critical. The owner of this establishment, Joe, who just happened to be our pleasant bartender is also the owner. We feel that Joe went above and beyond for the circumstances. He reached out to the review and unnecessarily refunded our bill for the entire dinner. He addressed the issues we had.. Restaurants that do this I think are incredible. 1 bad review can go a long way and Joe obviously understands this. Read moreI would like to say it was the first time there for dinner with my husband and our friends and I would like to say the owner Joe and wife Mona are the nicest people. We sat at the bar waiting for our friends and was talking to Joe which I was asking about everything on the menu. He was so nice explaining everything...he told me the pork chop is very good...well I got it and it was fabulous...it was about 2 inches thick and so tender..I would definitely get that again. My husband had the Delmonico steak with mozzarella cheese and tomatoes and he said it was also delicious and tender. My friends had the veal Marsala and pasta with meat sauce and a meatball and sausage . They both said it was very good. We will be coming back. The waitress was very nice. It has a warm atmosphere.
