This was my first time trying out their fish fry. I asked the counter guy if he could give me both the tartar sauce as well as cocktail sauce in case I don't care for the tartar sauce and this is a "to go" place really. He said he would. After 20 minutes my order was ready and when I checked my box to see if he remembered to include both and there was barely any cocktail sauce at all. I kindly asked if he could add more cocktail sauce as the little container barely had anything inside of it and he says to me "that'll cost you more!". I replied, "I'll remember that." In other words, this fish fry at almost $20.00 with tax better be the best I have ever had in my life for me to accept this poor customer service treatment that I was now receiving. I paid my almost $20 for lunch and after I ate this I can honestly say not only was this fish fry at best mediocre, but the cocktail sauce wasn't much better than just plain ketchup without horseradish sauce. Take a look at the pic where you won't see a mix of horseradish, mostly ketchup. The tartar sauce was decent and I received plenty of that in the next size up container than the cocktail sauce/ketchup came in, and the mac&cheese is just pasta with some light cheesy sauce, but far from legit Mac&Cheese baked in an actual oven like most other places. Not the real deal at all!! They cut corners and it shows. I strongly suggest going down the street to Picks Pub, Legends, or Curly's. Better tasting fish, real mac & cheese, and really great tartar sauce, and in the event you ask for cocktail sauce I can guarantee they'll all give you what you ask for and with a smile since they all appreciate and value their customers. All of their customers to, not just some here and there. That's because they know how to treat a customer. With a name like "Sauce Boss", they should be ashamed. I won't tolerate being bossed around. I'll go someplace else where my business is valued. Vote with your dollars.
UPDATE: A price for your silly and more than half empty cocktail sauce tiny container was never discussed to me by anyone. Why would I buy more air than any sauce? It shouldn't even be necessary since it's a simple condiment and the tone your counter help took by retorting "it'll cost you more" was enough to turn me off and the way he said it. It's just cocktail sauce, lol. Don't take your bad day out on the customer. Plus, there were no threats that you're reaching for here. I simply said that "I'll remember that" and he simply replied back to me "that's ok"., meaning, I'll remember how I was treated and more importantly WHY I will remember not ever to return there again. You got me once. Him saying to me; "that's ok!", meaning he doesn't care if I come back again. Good luck with that mistreatment and attitude to customers. Very unprofessional. You may tell one or two people when you're treated right, but when you receive bad service treatment you'll tell 5-7 or more people. Remember that and try harder to earn the customers business next time, or you'll be out of business before you know it. The choice is yours. Take great care of all, not just some of your customers. You are nothing...
Read moreWe went here for a meatball sub and to see if this place lived up to the hype we read. We had a young guy at the counter inform us of specials which was nice. We ordered the meatball sub and had fried garlic tossed on as well for a small cost. Unfortunately we could not get seating which would of been nice but shows the place is busy 😉 Wife and I played pool while waiting for our sub, another nice feature with this place. The place seems clean and organized, very small dine in atmosphere here. We took our sub and went to Eldridge park and enjoyed our sub. I can say we totally enjoyed the sub it was awesomeness if I have one complaint the wife agrees the mozzarella was light in our opinions, very small thing will not stop us from going frequently for this sub the roasted garlic was amazing and worth the up cost in our opinions 🥰🥰🥰 I love seeing this type of situation in Elmira it's awesome to find this type small business finding a niche and running with it. ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you the sub was memorable 🥰🥰🥰
Edit: 3/18 Second time not always a charm 🤔 Today some snags, first no parking I had to park my motorcycle in a spot out front that was being used for nothing, my wife took offense the person at the counter told her park down the street, wrong attitude to take with customers at anytime. We went to Harris Hill, the sub was nowhere as nice, whoever made it crushed the meatballs obviously to use less meatballs NOT Impressed, the bun was not as toasted as the first time so kind of made us feel maybe the first time was the "Holy Grail" of meatball subs and we have come to see reality today. Next a customer started yelling he had a pre-order he been waiting an hour 🤔 he stormed out without getting his order. Another customer sitting at a booth was there before us seemed to get upset we received our meatball sub before they received their food 🤷 we decided we will take a leap of faith and try this place a 3rd time and adjust our review from there 🤞🤞🤞 BTW my wife griped there is no handicapped parking another thing I will mention on our next visit 🤔
Edit 6/18 we been here 8 times since my last edit, my wife considers the meatball sub her "aphrodisiac" we go to Eldridge park or ECU mud puddle to enjoy. Of the last 8 times we had one meatball missing and it was promptly made right. I am going to have to try some of the other dishes here in all fairness.
Edit: 6/26 another trip to Eldrige and the wife's 👸 meatball sub fix. We think the pictures show what you can expect, again that missing meatball is not going to break the bank guys, especially you want repeat customers 😉 plenty of sauce, an OK amount of cheese the garlic is a real...
Read moreSauce Boss reopened recently, and day 2 I placed a catering order for my office. Chicken Alfredo Pasta. Generous portions, amazing sauce, and fed the whole office comfortably as well as allowed for a 2 qt tupperware of leftovers. Pans are aluminum based to trap heat and keep the dishes hot.
Next day, were back at the office and a different group and I head over for lunch. Philly Cheese sub was spactacular. Peppers and onions not overpowering, cheese properly broiled and melted. Foot long sub and to the last bite it remained hot as if it just came out of the oven. Tried the velvet cake. Good size slice, buttercream frosting, and not too rich.
Now my wife wants ziti just prior to the weekend..third trip. I get the philly again because who doesnt want a hot sub thats done correctly? She has the Ziti covered in broiled mozzerella cheese with good ratio to sauce. Leftovers on that portion as well.
3 days over 20 different people different meals.. not one complaint. If you are looking to try a new local establishment. This. Is. It.
We'll definitely keep...
