This is a public park which has so many visitors. They must not be expecting them because they are exactly two porta potties. As one who frequents the park often enough, and long enough to need the restroom facilities, it is very obvious that more cleanings are needed so the depth of the feces is not so deep and not so close to the human body. Other than that, great memorial Park for the military. Largest Marine symbol monument in the country. People stop here while traveling the country. There are events at these monuments which draw quite the crowd. You can find a handful of fishermen here just about any time of day. Even more as the sun begins to set. The pavilions are great for gatherings, and for lines at the porta potty. Bring your own tissue. Sometimes, rarely, a building with a bathroom is open. Under the bandshell there is yoga on a regular basis, weekly music, and sometimes theatrical rehearsals and performances. Many people come here to exercise to run, to use the workout area, and to use the playground area. This park is situated on flyway of bird migration. You can find birds of prey, waterbird shorebirds and Marsh birds; along with a variety of songbirds. You might find a bald eagle. Hear the rattle call and see a kingfisher--watch it dive and come up with a fish. I have seen bird watchers come here with binoculars and be very excited about what they see in the water. A good place for people with cameras. Many people walk their dogs here. Lots of picnics throughout the day, at the various places to picnic in this park. Nice to see enough trash receptacles to accommodate the picnics. If eating in your vehicle, walk to two of the 4 corners of the lot. One very nice aspect of this park is that there are shade trees. I would still wear a hat while under a tree because of the tick problem that's been happening the last couple of Summers. This is a place worthy to visit in all...
Read moreNice place to go fishing, hit the playground or watch nature do it's thing. Took my kayak out on the water and fished from the dock area a few times. It can get a bit crowded but generally those who are they are relatively friendly. I look forward to seeing the local groundhog that lives here as well as the family of ducks who are always around at each visit. There does seem to be some local punks that go by here causing trouble from time to time. One of the times I was here while I was stringing my fishing pole it sounded like they were throwing rocks at the ducks which luckily I didn't see but I heard an elderly man scold them as he was pulling out to which they acted like tough guys and tried to start a fight with a nice 60ish year old man. Probably trying impress the 17 year old girls who were with them. Aside from those ignorant Meatheads it's a very nice place and I would recommend giving it a visit. Next time you're having a stressful day take a stop and watch the funny groundhog donhis thing or the family of ducks waddle swim and eat. I'm certain it'll help clear your head of whatever is...
