My husband and I decided to check out this new restaurant in our neighborhood on our dinner break. We were absolutely pleased with the interior and the beautiful work that went into the decor and thought as the past history of North Tonawanda came to life with the older pictures were displayed throughout the restaurant. We were greated by the owner Jay, who proudly shared his dream of this coming to fruition. Seeing his pride as a retired Marine is definately apparent with the pictures displayed in the bar/lounge area of the restaurant. Being a chef myself who has traveled all over the world and learning different cuisines and cultures, I was excited to see what the menu had to offer. Though not a huge menu, it definately reflected some really good choices for anyone that's wanting typical local tastes like the Buffalo chicken dip, or a little southern flare like fried green tomatoes, or shrimp and cheesy grits. If you want upscale, that's available too with a good rib-eye steak. All being said we were ready to test our palats and begin our journey. We first ordered fried green tomatoes and of course had to try the Buffalo Chicken Dip, as we still had 15 minutes to wait to order main entree's. 5:00 is when the real dining begins. As we waited for our appetizers, the manager came by to check on us and ask how we were doing, and we were just thrilled with a new face on the block. Our appetizers arrived and let's say, we were not disappointed and completely could have made a meal from it. The Buffalo Chicken Dip was huge and hot and fresh to say the least, served with pita points fried gently and truly this dip was SPOT ON!! The fried green tomatoes were so large, came with 3 breaded and fried to perfection, topped with a goat cheese creme' that was superb and a drizzle of what I am guessing was balsimic glaze on a bed of arrugala. My husband and I managed to eat 1 whole tomato between us and about 1/4 of the Buffalo dip, we wanted to keep our appetite for dinner. Wow, okay, so my husband ordered the rib eye steak with baked potato and asparagus, I ventured for the cheesy grits and shrimp. Now, I wasn't expecting what was about to come, but it was worth the wait. The rib eye was at least 16-18 ounces easily, and it covered nearly the entire platter it was served on, the grill, the seasoning, the cut of beef that was marbled in absolute perfection. It was served with a good pat of herb infused butter on top and also served with the luscious grilled and seasoned asparagus and then came the perfect baked potato that had the most amazing buttery cheesy cream sauce (comes with bacon too) oozing over the sides of that amazing potato. My husband took one bite and couldn't believe how good and reasonably priced this amazing steak was. He didn't need the knife that came with it, OHHHH NOOOO, it was so tender he could literally use only the fork. There is no words to the perfection of that steak and the choice cut. Then finally the creamy cheese grits and shrimp. I mean, heaven heaven heaven on a plate. The creaminess was superb, the seasoning on the shrimp, beyond perfection. it was beyond words. As I said, I have been a chef and working in kitchens and restaurants since I was 14 years old, now at 63 I know good food, and this place is a definate must for local residents of NT to visit and anyone on the outside. I had to meet the chef, which was non other than the son of Jay, and his name is Ryan. We shook hands, and I literally congratulated him on food that was beyond perfect. There was so many leftovers we will be eating for the next 2 days. That is how much food you get and how amazingly delicious. Our entire bill was less than $100 and there is NO where you can get this quality and quantity of food anywhere in the 716 area code without spending several hundreds of dollars. Come and support and help bring IroNTron to life, enjoy appetizers, a good meal, a cocktail, and let's show everyone what a great city we live in and the patrons who grew up and built their dreams to feed and...
Read moreWent here for dinner Friday. We were excited to try a new spot that we have been seeing great reviews for! Unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. We were seated on the front patio, which was great because it was an unusualy nice cool summer evening. The first thing we noticed was the patio dining furniture was cheaply made thin plastic that still had the assembly “peices” stickers attached to them. I imagine someone will end up falling through one of the chairs they feel so unstable.
The service left a little more to be desired also. We placed our drink orders and it took almost 15 minutes to get our drinks, in that time 2 people came by asking if we’d like water while we wait. Not a huge deal but definitely something that was a bit irritating when we were still waiting for our original drink orders.
Now the food….i wish I was exaggerating but I don’t think this restaurant has learned what seasoning and salt is. The food was so bland and not seasoned at all. Everything was sup par, we barely ate half the food because it just was so boring. I was hoping for something tasty and new. The iroNTon burger sounded so good. But was just charred, burnt and bland. Fries were salt free and potato skins were volcanic hot pile of one note unexcitment. And my guests steak sub…the steak was everywhere except her bread 😂 we didn’t expect a diy sandwich making type of dinner
I recommend you save your money and time and try for somewhere else. You will be highly...
Read moreWe went for lunch. Wow! We chatted with the owner prior to our meal. I wanted to let him know that I immediately noticed the attention to detail outside. The beautiful awning, the paint on the building, and even the treads on the entry ramp. The attention to detail was perfection. He giggled and gave the credit to his wife! He was kind and funny. Now, the food! We had the NT burger, the Beef on Weck, and a beet salad. The sandwiches were huge! There were lùarge portions and a great presentation. Our server Diana was awesome! She was so happy and informative! The bartender (I forgot his name - sorry) was awesome as well. He came over and introduced himself and chatted with us, too. You can tell that this is a journey that everyone was super excited to be on. Everyone was very proud of the transformation of the building. They were happy to be there. Overall, it's definitely 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️'s. We can't wait to go back for dinner!...
