Easy dog-friendly walking path in 📍Rochester, NY #rochester #585

We went to this falls two times, one by foot walking along the boardwalk. Another time by riding the bike on the boardwalk all the way to the lighthouse. We saw people fishing on the shore. Both the view in the afternoon and the view in the evening are beautiful and very peaceful. Riding the bike makes it less tiring but could go all the way to the lighthouse. It is very easy to ride there as it is wide and pretty flat. I recoomend this place if you are going to Rochester, N.Y. We also saw a beaver swimming. The parking lot close the gate when sunset around 8-830 in Aug. make sure don't come back to the parking lot too late, the gate will lock and you will not get your car out.

This is my go-to pathway to walk. I've done it a million times with and without my dog. When it's busy, parking goes out into the street (it's a very quiet street) as the parking lot is small. There is a steep hill to get down to the pathways. Going left means going over the water which is always a nice view and people can fish, I've seen lots of birds, ducks, turtles and such. Its a 3 mile walk total. Going right is just some wooded areas and not as great of a view but that means it's quieter and I was able to get some nice senior photos on either side.

It's a lovely piece of river habitat and there's usually some wildlife around, mostly birds, but it's often very crowded because it's in the middle of residential areas and it's only got one main path. The boardwalk is great and very sturdy but there's a ton of foot traffic and individual wheeled activity (bicycles, scooters, etc). So on nice warm days it's crowded which is less enjoyable if you're hoping to observe nature. Some of the birds seem to ignore the human activity completely but there's not usually many migratory species during peak visitation.

Also it's out on the water so bring a jacket if it's cooler. There's one port-a-john in warm weather, not sure...

The park is beautiful! I've come here since I was a child. People litter alot though and it really takes away from the parks beauty. And I've encountered multiple people who bring aggressive dogs to the park and let then 1) walk without being on a leash (this has proved to be a problem as my dog is dog aggressive, I can control her enough to get out of a situation without anyone being harmed IF the other dog is on a leash and being controlled) and 2) Argue with me and others because they believe that even though THEY are the ones causing the issue, that other people should be the ones avoiding them and their dog. Other than those issues the park...
