We hosted our son's 3rd birthday party at the Children's Museum at Saratoga this weekend and we could not have been happier. Dawn was wonderful to work with to confirm everything for the party. We ended up reserving the party room as well as the conjoining room as we had around 50 guests and it was the perfect amount of space. Kids tables were set up in one room and we set up food in the other.
There were toys around the room and crayons and paper topping the tables to keep the kids busy between lunch and heading up to the museum, which made it easy for parents to be able to peacefully eat and mingle.
Three incredible staff members helped us with everything from the time we arrived to set up. I truly don't even know where to begin -- they helped with everything from bringing things in and taking things back out to the car, helping to set up decorations, making announcements to move the party along, assisting me with literally everything before I even had to ask, and so much more (even helped with setting up the cake) -- all with so much enthusiasm.
On top of that, the museum and its exhibits, the restrooms, etc. were clean and well-maintained. My son and his friends had the best time and with so much help, I could truly enjoy the party as well and catch up with friends. We are so happy with our decision to book the children's museum for his birthday and will...
Read moreThis museum is tiny. And I am not even sure it constitutes as a museum. While there is some knowledgeable information provided, I feel it is more of a play place with knowledge sprinkled in for good measure. That said, the activities here can be fun.
The flashing lights of the fire engine, the "make your own sundae" shop - sponsored by who else but Stewart's, and the occasional things in the STEM rooms make it what it is for my little guy.
Seeing how we are about 40 minutes away from this place it is not likely we will ever justify getting a membership; there is simply not that much variety to keep our kid entertained enough. However for the occasional trip it is worth it.
Just be warned, again, this place is tiny. It gets full real quick and then it can become a competition of who gets to play with what and when. Also, the lack of room makes it seem that one is always in the way or on top of each other. This may not be a problem for some, but those with social anxiety, like myself, or those with kids who may not do well with others it might be best to...
Read moreLet me start this by stating that I applaud all those responsible for the Children's Museum of Saratoga for their presence and efforts. They do a great job with what they have and I am grateful to have a children's museum of any kind in our area. I rate this 3 stars for 2 reasons (none of which may apply to you). 1st: Having experienced many children's museums in many states, I'll just simply say: I wish this was so much more comparable to it's country wide peers. Backers whoever you may be - please consider helping these wonderful people turn this venture into something worthy of it's NY Capital District status. 2nd: As a parent of a special needs toddler - this is just not the place for us. The offerings are either too young for our kiddo or require more "pretend play" then capable. Wish so much there was more in between such as science, large puzzle structures, more art and particularly an outdoor exhibit. I can't stress enough this is a great place for the right kiddo. It just has so much potential to be so...
