Mohawk-Hudson Bike Trail, Watervliet Parking — Attraction in City of Watervliet

Flat path, great place to run or bike near the river. Goes all the way to Jennings landing from here without going on any roads. It's part of the empire state trail system now, and very well maintained, even in winter. The parking in Watervliet is a little hidden off the road, but the parking lot is good for maybe 12 cars. There is a picnic table area by the parking lot. The trail goes south towards Albany by the path. If you follow it north, you have to run or bike on a road away from the river...

Only used parking lot this day as I was just sitting in car viewing the river for a bit if quiet. Small parking area with a constant flow of trail users coming & going. Small one way road to enter parking lot as your driving under 787, can be tricky coming/going if at peak times. No picnic or bathroom facilities, picnic areas throughout trail for use if desired. I was looking forward to walking the trail from here but didn’t even make it from the parking lot to the trail. There is garbage everywhere, including broken beer bottles along the river at the end of the lot by the trailhead. I don’t mean just a few pieces of litter—the garbage cans are overflowing and it’s all over the place. Absolutely disgusting. I didn’t even feel safe so I went somewhere...
