The Riverwalk is beautiful, well maintained, and safe during daylight hours. Occasionally, things can get weird past 6pm with who you’ll encounter since it is a free public area. I’d say this does not apply during events, nor Christmas time when they display the light show/walking path. There is a public restroom, children’s jungle gym, boat ramp, picnic tables, bike-share (aka rental) kiosk, small museum room, and parking lots throughout (has multiple entrances that are not connected). There’s a 1 mile trail along the river that connects with Upland Trail, and that continues through to Valleybrook Park. No public Wi-Fi as of this post. The path connects to the parking lots of Wendy’s, Burger King, and O’Charley’s. You can rent bicycles from a B-station kiosk supplied by Clarksville’s BCycle program. It is very cheap (~$3). Keyword search (“Clarksville bcycle”) for the website and you can find the complete break down of pricing and how it works. If interested, the main entrance has a Pokémon Go nest spawn, a handful of Pokestops, a few popular raid/gym stops, and slightly decent-ish source for magikarp & water type. Spawns and pokestops thin out along the path once outside of the more congested entrance that I mention above. Non-EX. Lastly, beware of spiders when sitting, lol....
Read moreA beautiful park located alongside the Cumberland River. A nice size parking lot and clean restroooms on site. The park has several picnic areas, a playground, a BCycle station, and a boat ramp, as well as the "the River Flows Museum," depicting Clarksville's rich river history.
The park is also home to the Clarksville RiverWalk, a 2-mile walking trail that connects on the south end to the Upland Trail via the Pedestrian Overpass at College Street, and on the north end at the Red River across from the Clarksville Greenway. It's also dog friendly with many dog waste areas and bins along the walk. I was disappointed, however, to see so much trash and litter along the rocks and waterway. As well as a lot of hooks and fishing lines. I picked up every hook I saw and disposed of them in my short walk as well as multiple glass beer bottles. I will never understand why anyone litters or how anyone thinks nothing of it as they toss it among nature??? There were several trash cans scattered about. Just no excuses. Im also surprised the employees dont clean up the debris and trash??? Especially all the hooks and lines that endanger the birds, fish, and...
Read moreI love when a city shows off it natural settings! This Riverwalk is a little on the short side but it has well established sidewalks for large crowds if need be and is well manicured lawns. There were workers out there keeping the grass cut and clean. There's a park on for kids on the west end and as you move east there is a steps for an amphitheater type seating. Then at the very end on the east side, there is a bridge crossing over into down town and will lead you to 1 Public Square which is where they hold the Farmer's Market every Saturday in the summer and autumn. From there you can get connected to some shops and restaurants. It's fun watching the people ride their boats and seeing the barges pass on the river. This is a nice place for leisurely walk to shoot the breeze or for a quick jog with some...
