This was my experience with this shop. Yours may vary. First time I brought my truck here, just got it leveled. Being new to the truck world. They guys explained almost everything I asked. However the answers I got to all my questions were in a condescending tone. I get they get asked those same questions millions of times, and it gets old. But still... Be professional. Still I told them I would come back to lift it in a couple of weeks. The level went as expected, no issues whatsoever by the way. And for that I was thankful.
The second time we did a RC 3.5 lift with control arms. , and I told them I would bring it in a couple of months to do a 6 inch lift wich I would need the factory control arms for. I was charge six hours of labor, for a RC 3.5 lift. I waited at the Macdonalds across the street to wait. It took them two hours to finish it.
I didn’t complain. Maybe they are like a dealer. They have to “follow”the maintenance book and if it says 10hr they “took” 10 hours. Wich would defeat the purpose of going somewhere other than the gmc dealer. What bothered me was that I started to hear this metal on metal knocking sound coming from the front end.
I brought it two times for them to check it out. I told them the issue. They “checked it” and said there’s nothing wrong. And sarcastically pointed at they funny papers on the wall, poking fun at the clients lack of knowledge when it comes to lifts. I get that there’s people that don’t know much and talk to much. I get that. I am not one of them. Two of many certifications I hold are a certified automotive mechanic and a certified Aircraft mechanic, But what do I know right. The only reason why I took it to them was cause at the moment I didn't have where to work on it myself.
When I finally had the chance to check on it myself. The bolts on the spacer on top of the strut where touching enough to where they were hitting each other on bumps. One bolt on the differential was about to fall out and two of the skid plate were loose. But they checked it twice and “I was wrong”. As for the 6inch lift. I won’t bring my truck to them since now I have to buy two factory control arms since they disposed of my 39k mile...
Read moreI previously relied on S&M for all my tire and alignment needs. I started visiting them with my 2012 F250 years ago and later purchased a 2023 2500. When the stock tires wore out, I returned to S&M for a set of generic tires. Within 15,000 miles, they were excessively worn and all my tires were feathering. I attributed this to the inexpensive nature of the tires. I revisited S&M to purchase a set of Toyo AT3 tires. Unfortunately, this experience was highly unsatisfactory. Immediately after installation, I experienced rear shaking upon acceleration. I promptly returned to S&M, and they rebalanced the rims, but the issue persisted. After four rebalancing attempts and no definitive explanation beyond attributing the vibration to the AT tires, I consulted a local shop. They suggested swapping the rear tires with the front tires to diagnose the issue. However, upon attempting this, I found the lug nuts were over-torqued, and I couldn't loosen them despite using a breaker bar with an extension. I then took my truck to the dealership, where they broke the over-torqued lug nuts and performed a road force analysis on the tires. The results indicated that one tire was severely misshapen, resembling a triangle, and my tires were feathering, resulting in unnecessary expenses. I returned to S&M, presented them with the road force analysis paperwork, and was met with hostility. Jeff stated that they would replace the tire but told me not to return to their establishment. I replied that I wouldn't and advised them not to over-torque wheel lug nuts in the future. Jeff became increasingly agitated. I am still dealing with the consequences of their mistakes. Recently, while attempting to purchase a new set of tires from the dealership, I was informed that all my rims have deformation due to being over-torqued. I expect nothing and want nothing other than to inform people that S&M may employ unqualified technicians, and their standards...
Read moreWent in to S&M 4 weeks ago and dealt with Kevin who ordered me a set of Fox 2.0 coilovers for my 2015 f150. I came back a few days later and had them installed In two hours flat including the alignment. However, when I went to get the truck I noticed it was nose high in the front with a total of 3 inches of lift instead of 2 inches as I had expected. So I asked Kevin about it and he said they did it that way purposely as the springs tend to settle with use and should be close to the two inches I had expected in a couple of weeks. He advised me to drive it for a couple of weeks and if it didn’t settle to bring it back and they would adjust it for me. So... after 4 weeks of an amazingly harsh ride I brought it back in to have it adjusted down. Here’s where things went south... originally I dealt with Kevin (who was great), but now I dealt with a tall skinny guy with a pony tail who was rude from the start. I turned my keys over and then 2 hours later I was ready to go again. As I walked up to get my keys he said I owe him $99 for an alignment. I questioned him on this since I was bringing it back as discussed prior to have it lowered to the correct height as it should of been in the first place. I told him the only reason I took it the first time was because Kevin said I could bring it back if it didn’t settle. He then tried to put it on me as it was a part that I brought in, then I advised him they bought it. He then kept trying to tell me that I should be paying even though I had nothing to do with the incorrect set up from the beginning. He became mad and snatched the bill off the desk and said just forget it, get out of here. As he stormed away mumbling under his breath. Terrible customer service and I will make sure I...
