Fine Points — Attraction in Cleveland

I'm re-posting a review as I see my original review from years ago was removed, but continues to be relevant.

Fine Points is a cozy space with an interesting selection. However, the moment I entered the space an employee followed me around, asking me aggressively over and over again if I needed assistance. Anywhere I went, she was a step behind. I was very uncomfortable, and I believe I experienced this because I'm African American, despite the fact that I had previously visited and made purchases from this shop. I get it, no shop wants to be accused of racially profiling customers, so that's probably why the review was removed. But since people who don't fit the traditional narrative of who visits stores like this might be looking to patronize this business, I'll repeat my story once again. I'm a professional, educated black person who went to this store to make a purchase, and I was treated like a potential shoplifter. I’m writing about the excellent customer service I received from Fine Points. My husband had open heart surgery at Cleveland clinic and I was in the midst of a knitting project when I ran out of yarn. I was afraid to go out into public spaces because of the risk of Covid, which might be devastating for my husband. Liz, the owner of Five Points,, actually delivered a skein of yarn to my hotel on the Cleveland clinic campus, although it was not on her way and completely extraordinary. In the space of less than 10 minutes, we had a great conversation about everything from knitting to books to kids to life. This random act of kindness was so welcome and unexpected during a time of stress and I will always be grateful. Fine Points is a one-of-a-kind, unique yarn shop. Each time I visit, I find new and exciting creations. If you're a knitter...this is akin to "knitter's heaven." I don't happen to be a knitter, but I am always fascinated by the beautiful items, which others create. Visiting the clothing and jewelry boutique upstairs is a must. There are an amazing variety of fashions and jewels that you just don't see anywhere else. Fine Points is also a great place to bring visiting out-of-town family and friends.
