Scorpacciata Pasta Co Is a true hidden gem we recently discovered in Larchmere. After building a loyal following at the Van Aken Market District, this cozy spot opened its own doors last year—and it’s been serving up fresh, inventive Italian fare ever since.
The name Scorpacciata translates to “a big feast,” evoking images of generous platters shared among friends and family. True to its name, the restaurant focuses on abundance—with a commitment to scratch-made dishes that are never frozen and always seasonal. Their guiding mantra, “Abundantly locally sourced and in season,” is reflected in every plate, with ingredients sourced from local farms.
Some standout dishes we tried: 🍝Orecchiette – Tossed with Kalamata olives, sausage, and broccoli rabe 🍕Kale Pizza – An off-menu delight with white sauce 🥗Burrata – Creamy burrata cheese, prosciutto, strawberry preserves, and candied nuts over a bed of arugula 🍛Arancini – Crispy breaded rice balls served with marinara 🧁Cannoli – Classic vanilla filling with chocolate chips
Drinks not to miss: 🍹Negroni 🍊Spiced No-Loma 🍷Wine selection 🍋Limoncello – Made in-house using a cherished family recipe
Extras to keep on your radar: 🎉Happy Hour: -Tue–Thurs: 5–7 PM -Sundays: 4–7 PM 🎉Special Events: Wine tasting nights and “Tour of Italy” dinners 🎉Ever-changing seasonal menu
Whether you’re craving a casual night out or planning a special evening, Scorpacciata delivers with heart, flavor, and an atmosphere that makes you feel...
Read moreI LOVE this restaurant don't get me wrong. I have been a massive fan the entire time they were in van aken, but my last order here was disappointing to say the least. We ordered to go, which may have caused some of the problems, but is tragically no excuse for them. The pear salad only filled half it's container, my gnocchi was so empty that there was quite literally one singular layer (1/4 the bowl) of pasta, which I know is not the serving size as the orecchiette filled it's entire bowl. And at a price tag of 20$ it means a little bit more than 1$ per singular gnocchi (there were only 16 in there). And finally the Mortadela pizza came with ham on it, two issues here, ham is not listed as an ingredient on the online menu, and two I cannot eat ham. I do not want to rate Scorpacciate at 2 stars because I love their menu, it's diverse and delicious and I hope to change this review. But what we were given was disappointing to say the least and I really hope this is not indicative with the service for their future take out orders.
Edit: They have since added a label to the Mortadela pizza showing it contains pork and mortadela. Ig kinda my bad for not realizing mortadela was an ingredient and not just a fun word...
Read moreI really like the idea that animates this little pasta shop in the Van Aken District (VAD) Marketplace. After all, pasta was born as street food and should be enjoyed as such. Fresh pasta cooks quickly and can be topped with just about anything. Unfortunately, my first few trips at Scorpacciata have been rather disappointing. The sauces were extremely oily and overwhelmed the texture and taste of the pasta itself. After I was done there was a small puddle of oil soaking the bottom of my bowl, and I was still hungry! Despite the relatively high prices (9-14 dollars per item), in fact, the portions are quite modest. Speaking of serving size, I would suggest that the owners include a kid size Mac and Cheese priced at $5 or so. Currently one size must fit all, but the VAD is always full of families with hungry kids in tow. I think it would be a hit. I see a lot of potential in this place, but so far it is still...
