Finding a perfect wedding venue is such an important decision. We had such a great experience working with everyone at Imperial House for our big fat Indian wedding. We hosted 4 events here in July 2018, and I am so happy we did!
Things we loved about our experience:
You are working with genuine and trustworthy people. Marcela throughout the entire planning process was so fun to work with, she is understanding and flexible and works with you to make your vision come to reality. She definitely went out of her way the day of the wedding to ensure everything ran smoothly and coordinated. She offered to handle details that I wasn’t expecting and her hard work so very much appreciated by my entire family. The venue is very affordable and they are willing to work with your budget to make your dream wedding into a reality. We hosted a 400 person wedding without breaking the bank (and we definitely shopped around for venues in the metro Detroit area to compare prices). You also don’t incur surprise charges or fees after the event is over (for example some large hotels may charge you for using certain equipment or stage materials etc). Everything is done in a fair manner to you as the hosting family. Have you seen the inside? It is gorgeous! You have the flexibility of using the venue to cater to your needs (you’re not restricted to the placement of things in certain places, which is something we encountered at other venues). Things to consider based on our specific situation:
We shared the venue the night of the wedding reception and unfortunately the partition is not sound proof. I hope this will be a change in the renovation plans, however we knew what we were signing up for. The noise disruption was pretty significant during speeches but afterwards once the dancing music was on, we couldn’t hear the other party. I should mention, Marcela did try to see if we could get the entire hall to ourselves, something that definitely was not required. I think that speaks to the level of investment she makes into each event. Our DJ had some technical difficulties with outlets working and projecting simultaneously onto multiple screens with one computer. This partly could have been avoided by him testing out all the outlets and equipment prior to the event, however he said he did not anticipate these issues. Of note, since our wedding the electrical outlets were replaced and screens have been repaired. Overall, I’m so glad we came across Imperial House and the amazing team that made our wedding celebrations so memorable. I will always remember working with Marcela in a such a positive way and I hope Imperial House continues to succeed and grow for...
Read moreI am finally getting a chance to write this review, as we just had our wedding the 22nd of last month, and cruised right into this busy season. My wife and I had our reception at the imperial house last month, and we were less than pleased with the end result. Ultimately, the staff that served during our reception were amazing and worked their hardest to fulfill our needs, but there just werent enough of them. We had initially planned for 130 people to attend, and maybe about 110 of them attended, but there were only three servers for the entire event. Three people to meet he needs of all 110+ attendees. This was not the biggest problem though. We were initially given a price, that changed after my wife overslept and failed to meet with or contact Marcella, the woman working with us to book the event. She claimed to have lost the paper she had written the original pricing on , although we had ours from the meeting prior, it would not suffice because there was only our writing in it. Okay, fair. So we moved forward and pay the additional two grand hike. Now fast forward and we are needing to make last minute adjustments to the menu Which she explained to us the consequences of but also agreed that it would be completely within reason and their ability to make happen. We were definitely informed of a price difference and agreed to pay any remainder on the day of the event. Fast forward to the event day, there were minor issues with the food distribution but was not their fault, and their servers were working diligently, but there really should have been more staff for the nearly 20% service charge that helped to total out the final additional two grand, thereby hiking the venue costs four grand from the initial venue booking. We were given a cheaper price by Barrister Gardens but had already put imperial house on the invitations. We should have bit the WAY smaller cost and just replaced the invites, and definitely would have, had we been able to foresee all of this. My wife has not been able to stop fuming over the way things were handled and the tension that we felt we were on the receiving end of when trying to work matters out. The establishment was clean and looked great, but it was just the overall service or lack thereof that really turned the experience into something else for us. Would not recommend another wedding or event of that...
Read moreThis Venue is beautiful and everything I wanted for my upcoming wedding. I tried for months to get inside to see it in person. I finally drove by and saw someone watering flowers and asked to go in. It was exactly what i wanted and she got me in contact with Marcella. She was very responsive and engaging on our 1st conversation but after that communication was bad. I really loved the venue so I continued reaching out. I reached out via text, email, phone, Facebook and & IG. After a few weeks she agreed to meet with me. When we arrived she had no idea who we were but was still fairly pleasant. Showed us one room and walked away. We saw that she was in the office and attempted to go in because we were ready to book. She threw up her hand and said wait. After waiting in the hallway for a while she came out the office walked by us and started doing other things and NEVER came back! I hate to think it was the color of our skin that warranted this response. So disappointed but happy I did not give them my money or trust them with me...
