5 years ago, I found myself driving around in search of wisdom, purpose, direction.... Something to motivate these dry bones and tired muscles. I was extremely overweight and unmoved at the thought of ever being anything more then I already was.... My vehicle drifted into the parking lot of Veterans and the curiosity of what lay on the other side of that tree line seem to call out. So I parked and began an evening stroll.... There, I was reminded of all the lives that had gone before me to protect and secure a future of hope. As I sat in front of the WWII memorial my heart spoke, "this....this right here. If you need purpose to better yourself, do it for them. Do it for the one whose heart was full of dreams yet cut short while sacrificing for freedom, for hope... you owe it to them to strive daily to live your best life." With tears in my eyes, I stood up and made a declaration. To myself and to those who have gone before me. I will strive to live my best life physically, mentally, and spiritually. Understanding and always remembering that it came with a price. I encourage anyone to stop by Veterans and ask yourself as you walk through time and ask yourself, are you living...
Read moreThe soccer fields at Veterans Park are some of the best I’ve seen. The natural grass fields are super well-maintained, and the synthetic fields are perfect for all-weather play. Plus, the lighting is great for evening games, so the fun doesn’t have to stop when the sun goes down.
What makes this place even better is the overall vibe. There’s plenty of space, and everything is really well-kept. They even have batting cages and a playground, so there’s something for everyone, even if soccer isn’t your thing.
And let’s not forget the Veterans Memorial, it’s a really nice touch that adds some meaning to the park. Whether you’re playing, coaching, or just watching, Veterans Park is a great spot to enjoy the game and...
Read moreOutstanding venue. Terrific memorials and statuary honoring our vets of every US conflict from our nation's founding to present day. Excellent signage explaining the details of each fight as well as the memorials. The "centerpiece" is an oversized marble wall listing the names of the fallen from this area. Adjacent to Veterans Park are numerous athletic fields, beautifully landscaped and maintained by the College Station Parks Dept. Major kudos to the leadership, citizens and friends of CS for this truly outstanding venue. One of the best--if not THE best--of its kind...
