I love Prospect Lake! This lake has really changed for the better over the years.
The lake allows both motorized and non-motorized watercraft on the lake (different days for each).
There is so much to do from fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming. If you don't have your own paddleboard or Kayak there is a local company with top notch reviews operating from the boathouse that will rent out equipment (SUP Colorado Springs).
There is a fitness trail that goes around the lake for both joggers and people that want to walk. There are fitness stations around the lake too.
Parking is ample most of the time. I see families having get togethers, and so many different groups doing various activities all having fun.
The city is completing an aeration system for the lake as well. The city is putting a lot of money into the lake to include adding more sand to Beach House swim area, renovating the Beach House, adding more sand at the Boat House, revamping the basketball courts, and so many other things.
If you want to see wildlife, there are plenty of ducks and geese, but also Blue Heron, Falcons, deer, and even Bald Eagles.
At the other local lakes I've seen the fisherman and paddleboarders not get along and get into verbal and sometimes physical altercations (mainly because the other lakes are smaller and overcrowded). But on Prospect Lake, I rarely see issues.
If you're looking for a family friendly place, try Prospect Lake which is part of Memorial Park. There is...
Read moreI live very close To this park. I can see it from my apt building. I don't have kids around, But I would stay mostly around the NW side of lake, where the play areas are. Anywhere else, make sure you have enough family around to keep a close eye on where all the kids are. Especially at high volume times. It never hurts to have a plan with little kids, I was very protective of my young ones. It only takes a moment. Keep a line on them if you have to, I had two like that. There are not many places where you don't have to be watchful these days. Keeping kids of any age is worth it.( whether they understand or not) you want to see...
Read moreThis place is amazing you can kayak here, swim here, there's a playground, and a very flat and wide sidewalk that's over a mile long. It's perfect for running and many other outdoor activities and even events if you wanted to have birthday parties here. I will say there is one group of people that look like they hang out on the wrong side of the tracks if you know what I mean and hey that's stereotyping it is what it is but it's them fit in the stereotype I don't have nothing against these people personally they just look like they on some gang stuff. I have also heard shots popping off here late at night and it sounded like an...
