Awesome ice climbing area without the crowd. Lake city ice park has three separate walls each with their own name and parking area. We climbed at the first and final walls which were excellent. Both had a porta potty and warming hut. The park is also totally free (but they had some donation boxes). Be prepared with lots of static line to set large anchor extensions from up top if you plan on top roping. Access wasn't terrible but it's a bit of a climb up to the top with a full kit of ropes and anchor gear. The guy who runs the ice park also runs San Juan soda company so be sure to stop by and check that out too (and thank him for maintaining an awesome park). When we were there he put a coupon for a free coffee or ice cream on our windshield which we took him up on.

Enjoyed my time watching the ice-walls. Such a cool place to visit and watch the water flow and the ice walk itself.

Great ice climbing spot. Smaller compared to Ouray, but the vibe can't be beat. We were trading ropes with different folks all day to avoid having to go up and reset the anchors. The base of the climb isn't in a canyon so you can set up your belay as far away from the wall as necessary to avoid getting hit by falling ice. The warming tents are also a great feature. Pump house is a great area for WI3/WI4 ice with a more complex mix line or column on the far left side thrown in. Beer Garden is the premier ice. Steep and long with plenty if opportunities for WI4 and WI5 routes. It's been rumored that the owner may try to open up a new wall if he can raise $8k, so definitely make sure to support the park and buy a membership for $35. Can be purchased at the Lake City Town Hall or the San Juan Soda Co.

The ice climbing park has really become a source of winter tourism for the town, which has led to many business opening up year-round, rather than just in the summer! Lake City Brewery has incredible beer and deviled eggs (it doesn't sound like it, but it works), and San Juan Soda Co. Provides rental equipment if needed. Definitely go out and support some local businesses if you make the...

This is an outstanding park. The warming tents and fire pits are a great feature, especially for cold days. I hope they get the access to the top anchors worked out, that's the only downside I see. Local climbers were friendly. Watch for the school zones in town or you might get introduced to the local police officer, who eventually gave us recommendations on where to eat. Depending on the day and time finding a place to eat locally may not...
