Beny’s Authentic Mexican Restaurant and Bar Lake City — Restaurant in Lake City

Of the past 3 times I have been here it has been incredibly slow service. The first time I didn't mind as I was catching up with a friend and we planned to stay for a while but I definitely noticed. The second time my wife had to get up and ask the waiter for more water (we were the only ones in the restaurant!). Tonight, everything applied, only ones in the restaurant, EXTREMELY slow service, to the point where we got our own water, wondered what the case would be if we had to leave in any reasonable amount of time because the waiter was actually not in the room for about 90 percent of the time. It was so bad, we had no water, no refills on chips and salsa, no check-ins, literally the service was non-existent for almost the entire time. We were finally able to order some churros, they were rock hard. Such a huge disappointment when those came out we were so ready to leave but the large and really tasty margaritas we ordered were keeping us there and thank god for those. Someone from the kitchen came out at one point and was obviously hiding his eyes from us as he walked in front of us at the bar and got water while keeping his head down to not interact with us. A simple greeting would have been nice at this point as this is when we were really fed up with our disappearing waiter. It was probably the worst experience we have had at a restaurant. I have been wondering why there has been less traffic at Benny's lately but after tonight it is extremely obvious. First time customers visiting from out of town.

Upon arrival, it took quite some time for them to even recognize we were waiting. Once seated we didn’t see a server, for 10-15 minutes. Drinks came out and we waited another 10 or so minutes to place our order. After ordering part of the food came out quick. We then waited another 5-10 minutes for the remaining food and utensils. We never saw our server again. No refills, no follow up and no check. We eventually went to the bar and asked to pay.

We ordered the Texas Style Chicken Fajitas for two. Clearly the cook or the person who developed this recipe, has never been to Texas.

Food quality was way below average, but the prices are way above average.

I am currently sitting at the bar waiting for my check. There are 3 inside tables with people at them, and 6 empty. There are 5 people including us sitting at the bar with 5 empty chairs. We sat here for 10 minutes before we were greeted. Another 5 before we got menus, chips, and water. At 25 minutes I had to stop someone to take our order. The plating looks good, and while our food wasn’t cold, it certainly wasn’t hot. Being from south Texas, it’s passable like Taco Cabana, but doesn’t come close to justifying the Papasitos pricing. $20 for nachos? Seriously? Oh, and only 2 of the 9 tables outside have people.
