I went here for Sonic Temple as a wheelchair bound disabled person and my review is based mainly on the accessibility of the venue itself and not the festival:
The venue itself is kinda difficult to get around in, it's not the worst but could definitely be better. During the festival there was ONE sectioned off porta potty way at the entrance, that was run by the festival itself. The venues built in bathrooms are not wheelchair accessible at all especially with a crowd. My wheelchair is small, and I genuinely could not fit in the entrance to the bathrooms. My standing friends had trouble maneuvering in the bathrooms as well because they are long and thin and they needed to scoot past people to make it to the stalls. There is one family restroom in the venue itself that remained locked the entire festival, and it was not something Sonic Temple could control because it was the venue keeping it locked despite multiple people requesting it be unlocked for accessibility.
There is ADA parking close to the front but it is still hard to maneuver around because the parking lot is gravel and on a slightly slanted hill. The the event had a medical entrance which was easy and quick to get through. The venue with the main stage is hard to get in because there is no ramp to get on the sidewalk built in, the event provides a single small wooden ramp.
The ADA stadium seating seating is way at the top of the main stage, in the sun. So that's also something to keep in mind. People tend to ignore the ADA sign and flock to those spots so you will likely have to assert yourself and get them to move.
The event itself was fun, the venue though was incredibly frustrating especially as a new wheelchair user. Overall I had a good time and the few volunteer staff we met were great but were restricted by the venue in what they were able to help with. I hope this information helps other disabled people prepare for any events they'll attend here. Definitely could be worse, but it's not the most accessible place I've been to at all by...
Read moreThis venue is not set up for concerts at all. I went to Hella Mega and there were no porta potties set up even though crowds warranted it, so the line for the restroom took forever. For some reason wrist bands for floor seating were a separate line than tickets and I ended up waiting half an hour for one so I missed the entirety of The Interrupters, and if I had arrived 10 minutes later I would have missed some of Weezer too. Floor seating was crowded even though there was more room for spacing people farther apart. Food, alcohol and water were very pricey. COVID protocols were totally non-existent. There was not requirement for a negative tests or even a mask requirement even though it had more enough time to be implemented since tickets went on sale in early May. Parking was an absolute nightmare. I already had a pass, but paying was confusing and it was not clear what was available. My. friend had to park and walk in an unfamiliar neighborhood and making sure she got to her car okay was nerve-racking. Exiting the venue was also not organized and not COVID friendly. The one good thing was the bands I saw and the only decent thing was the sound quality was okay for a stadium, but I was by the audio mixer so I have no idea how the stands sounded.I absolutely would not drive 2 1/2 hours for this venue again and I suggest that the site be torn down and started form scratch or to not have it as a concert venue or to be renovated and repurposed for local events only. More bathrooms are a must. Oh and it’s card only at the stadium but cash only...
Read moreLike the venue, hate the traffic. Went here for the Hella Mega concert with Weezer/Fallout Boy/Green Day. Traffic direction was nonexistent and I mean NONEXISTENT. Took almost an hour to drive the last 3 miles into the parking lot. They had ONE person selling parking passes. No one directing cars at any intersection. No signage helping people find the best route. Nothing. It was a nightmare getting in and we missed the opening act. Absolute chaos. When we got in the stadium, the lines for anything (drinks, shirts, etc) were outrageously long. I mean like 45 minutes-hour long lines. Missed one entire band waiting in line for a t-shirt. Had my partner wait for drinks and he missed the second band. There were no screens out in the front to keep watching the show, unlike most other concert venues. They ran out of bottled water. Crowds of people smashed together with lots of people cutting in line. There wasn't really any meaningful access control. I saw one person with a mask out of thousands (I know, I'm thinking it was a mistake to come during Covid but honestly I thought more people would have common sense). I came here for a soccer game and it wasn't anything like this. The concert itself was fantastic, but we left early to avoid the exit traffic mayhem. Wouldn't come back here again. Recommend finding parking nowhere near the stadium and getting a ride or walking closer to try and avoid the...
