I went here to check out the band Flicker // Fade, and tho the venue is small the sound was not. I am not sure whether the band or the venue was in charge of the audio engineering, however the mix level was super solid! No one part of the audio band was overpowering another, meaning the sound was super clear. It is rare to hear C.D. quality audio in a venue so small. It is really easy to end up with an overly "muddy" sound in that kind of environment, however it was super crisp and present in all aspects. Each instrument had an equal presence in the mix, and I didn't once hear mic feedback! There were only two bartenders, however they never seemed like they were in a hole at all! Drinks flowed out steadily and wait times were low. They were on point with working the whole bar and making sure patrons were served quickly! This was at a sold out show I might add! All in all the experience was more than I expected in all ways possible. This is a strong 4.5 stars, if there were more lights or lasers it would have got a solid 5! This is definitely a place that knows what it is doing, and I wouldn't hesitate to go again..... Also it was extremely reasonably priced as well!!! Like "shooting yourself in the foot" kinda prices! If you like live music and responsive staff, definitely...
Read moreThe owners are consistently community oriented; hosting benefit shows regularly and generally hosting great shows, prices are reasonable, the patio is great, and bartenders work hard and don't make you wait for subpar drinks they make them well. Crunchwerks has good grub also. I was especially grateful last Sunday for the benefit show hosted for Ian Carroll's family to cover costs of his Celebration of Life and related expenses; The Summit facilitated meeting the Go Fund Me goal being met. The show was donation based; all funds went to the family of Ian. 63 or 64 musicians played for him and The Summit was PACKED about 200 people there at any given time throughout the 3 plus hour show. Despite the crowd it was a timely fashion I was served drinks; bathrooms were in good shape too. Unrelated, parking can be difficult as it is in the North Campus area. Overall I have good sentiments about the Summit and I know my late buddy and bonafide guitar teacher and performer for life Ian Carroll always said positive things regarding the new owners and a number of my musician friends play...
Read moreI visited The Summit Music Hall [at 2110 Summit St. in the "University District" neighborhood of Columbus] on 6-10-2023 so that I would be able to be present for the unveiling of an Ohio Historical Marker in front of the former location of Summit Station, a lesbian bar that had been at that location between 1970 and 2008.
Summit Station had also been known, over the years, as "Jack’s" and "Logan’s Off Broadway" and had provided the LGBTQ+ community a welcoming space in Columbus for nearly forty years.
More than 100 people had been present [on a hot sunny day] for the 6-10-2023 unveiling.
The Summit Music Hall, the current business at 2110 Summit St., had been open during the unveiling and had invited people attending that event to come inside to their air-conditioned space.
I had sat inside -- in The Summit Music Hall -- during much of the unveiling -- until several minutes before the actual unveiling of the historical marker [which of course had required me to stand outside briefly in...
