This afternoon we tried to pull into our drive through site 37 with a small hybrid camper and the front wheels of the truck slid on mud down the exit portion of the pull thru site because of the angle and unevenness of the site. There was no way we were going to be able to level our camper. The site was very uneven and many seemed backwards. Why does a campground have trailers pulling into sites with the awning out to the road with 4 foot of space between the camper and road but the fire ring and picnic table are located behind the camper and up a hill? We would not have been able to open our awning since it would have gone into the street. The picture of site 37 on the website was very deceptive. There were no other sites available per the very unhelpful front desk girl. She didn’t show us how to get to our site or tell us where we can fill up with water, or where I get the firewood I prepaid for. We had to figure it out ourselves. We couldn’t risk damage to our trailer due to the crappy site. Of course, they relisted our site for availability even though we could not receive a refund. There was also another couple in a large mobile home trying to park in their site and after 2 attempts they had to go down the road the wrong way to even get into their site without damage. Maybe the other loop of the campground is more camper friendly but I would definitely not recommend the loop we booked if you have a trailer...
Read moreA quiet well groomed campground with easy access to beautiful scenery…definitely visit the Blackwater Falls nearby if you are able to walk stairs. Plenty of hiking available. Dining in the Smokehouse restaurant in the lodge a couple of miles away from the campground is a nice option if you want a break from camp cooking. Our camping site was level and roomy, but walking around we noticed a few that were not level and there was a large camper in one whose leveling jack was collapsing. The showers in the women’s bathroom were filthy and don’t look to be getting cleaned every day; perhaps a result of staff downsizing from DOGE cuts. I looked in all 3 shower stalls-all were dirty-I snapped a picture of one and nearly 24 hours later looked again and it was exactly the same-filthy with mud and grass. Fortunately we were in a camper with a shower, but be advised if you need to use the showers. The toilet stalls themselves as well as sinks were fine-only the shower stalls were gross. There are electric hookups only in camp sites-no sewer or water-and there is a dump station. Dumpsters are located near the office so only a short walk away. There is ice cream made by the “Ala Moo Creamery” available for purchase during office hours-it’s delicious...
Read moreI love this campground! The sites are really spaced out and there's a bathroom with 3 shower stalls and 4 or 5 bathroom stalls. Hot showers are available. The bathroom is well maintained, clean, and doesn't smell. Please, if you're visiting, your part in maintaining this is integral.
The campground office sells firewood. They maintain this campground so well that they even collect your trash for you in the morning, which you shouldn't have any if you are a good camper because the bin is nearby and you don't want to attract the wildlife. They even collected the ashes from the firepit. I didn't see them do this, but I know those ashes didn't walk themselves to the bin.
They only have electric hookups but that's what your trailer water tank is for the glampers. Or bottled water for those who are hard-core campers.
Did I mention everyone was so friendly? I mean, everyone.
Piece of advice, when you receive your confirmation email and you click on the linked map for the directions, the map will take you to the lodge, not the campground. Just follow the Google map directions to this campground instead. You don't need to check-in if you made a reservation.
Will definitely go back and I highly recommend...
