CHANGED REVIEW AND RATING
I will continue to stand by my original comment in regards to Max and Tina, as they are fantastic, however I had a situation that was very unsettling occur yesterday. My daughter and I had appointments set to get gel x manicures, as well as deluxe pedicures. We arrived a couple minutes late, but it was already crazy busy and they couldn't seat us right away. Anyways, once seated for deluxe pedicures, my daughter had Tina who is wonderful and I had another tech. At first things were going fine, after I picked out my color * which was white diamond dust*, I was schooled on what's wrong with my toe nails. I explained that I broke a couple toes several months back and my toenail has remained bruised and discolored. She began telling me how I should go to dr to have it removed because water got underneath and went into a whole thing. I was like um ok. Then, she started to paint my toes and I noticed it was clear glitter polish. So I said, hmmm that's not white. The tech asked if she could put a base color on first and then the diamond dust topcoat and I said, yes please, as I thought thats originally what I had picked. She then began to complain about how she doesn't get paid by the hour and shes doing the best she can and that the color on the sample nail is the white diamond dust but looks different because thats on a fake nail. So I said ok no problem, maybe they should change the fake nail to a clear nail because that's deceptive and gives the color a different look. She then called her manager Mike over, slammed the samples into his hands and became irate yelling at him that he needs to change that because the customer isn't satisfied. I was completely shocked. I felt so uncomfortable with her behavior, as she started becoming very aggressive. Tina the other tech shook her head in disbelief and was apologizing to me when the other tech got up for a moment. I told Tina I just want to be done at this point as I was on the verge of tears for how I was being berated. The tech came back and continued ranting. I asked her to please stop as the conversation was very awkward. She proceeded to complain, and tell me how she gets paid which was weird. I've been a patron for over a year at this salon and never had anything like this happen. Actually I've never had this happen anywhere. She then ripped the foam toe spaces off my feet slamming them down on her table and shoving my feet into the foam flops pointing me to another station for my gel x nails. At that time I was so appalled by this behavior I opted to cancel the rest of my appointment. My toe nails looked absolutely ridiculous, and I explained to the manager Mike that this was ridiculous. He was very nice and said I am taking this off your bill ( the bill was close to 300.00 with my daughters pedicure, her gel x full set, and design for her prom). Her nails and toes look excellent. I thanked him very much for that and asked what my techs name was so that I knew you never book with her again, and his answer to me was to please not be rude to his staff ever again. I was FLOORED. I was absolutely not rude and believe me I sure could have been. Well, he never has to worry about that as I won't be back. I was so upset and confused and shocked. I have recommended so many people to go there, but I will be sure to tell them my recent experience. These places are a dime a dozen. I already found a new salon. Way less expensive also. 60.00 for a deluxe pedicure plus additional 20.00 for gel polish, plus tip ... almost 100.00 for a pedicure. And to be admonished and abused and the work is awful....
Read moreApolgies for this being long...Ok now I'm giving my review due today's visit. My nails however were done on 26th October. I phoned up on 10th to explain that a day shy of a week later of when my nails had been done already one of the tips done at this salon had already come off, this actually could have started to break within the week of when they were done, however I didn't know the extent of the split until a day after the week was up, after (so pertaining to their policy of one week). Then after that (Tuesday) another tip came right off, probably my fault in that instance but then another split with my own nail, so 2 nails in just over a week. All explained to Carly (not sure if I have the correct spelling of her name). It was agreed at my request I have a different nail tech, due to the fact my nails hadn't lasted much over a week in total. It was also arranged mutually because now I have 3 nails which need fixing I come in at 12pm (orginally 1pm) but Jen was leaving at 130pm so I had mentioned to Carly that Jen won't be able to fix 3 nails in 30 mins. I receive a text (today, day of my appointment) saying my appointment was at 1pm not 12pm, as arranged, so I phoned to mention this. The lady I spoke with realised this and then asked if I could come in at 12:15pm instead of 12pm, I phoned and apologized I was running late and I would make it by 12:30pm. I receive a call from BD Nails less than 5 mins after I called them asking where I am but also confirming they knew I had phoned to apologize I was running late and would arrive around 12:30pm. I confirmed I would be approximately 10 mins. When I arrive they have me check in and take a seat and then wait which seemed strange. A man called JOHN comes over, long and short of it, says my nail isn't split, clearly it is, it even hurts, I should know and then says Jenny, the lady who orginally did my nails has refused to fix them but my appointment was with Jen! He was rude, wasn't clear where I was meant to site and he was now going to fix my nails 💁♀️. He argued with me that my nail wasn't split, so I making it up why would I, then he says Jenny refused to fix my nails when it was me who asked for a different tech and so I don't know what happened to having an appointment with Jen💁♀️. I will not tolerate redness and especially being called out as of I'm a liar either! He told me to read the sign on the wall re refusing service. I all the 23+ years have I been treated so badly and on top of this it is my time out in my day, calls and travel time too! I'm old enough to be John's mother as well. Totally disrespectful. I am not going to let someone insinuate I'm a liar and also say to me things which are untrue either, a very bizarre situation. If I could give NO STARS I would! Photo of nail JOHN said wasn't broken. Also John stunk of cigarettes, I'm not he had cleaned his hands after smoking either. Glad he refused to serve me because with his bad attitude and the fact that my appointment was...
Read moreNever returning to this salon again. I called in advance to see how much the exact said I was getting was and I was told that it would only be $60 and that my nieces manicure would be $35. I had an appointment for 4:30 and they took me about 15 minutes later. The girl doing my nails asked if I would like to keep my natural length I said yes and as she drilled off my old set, she was drilling too hard and drilled through my nail. Her immediate response was to try filing it and it just put me in a lot of pain, I tried taking my hands away and she kept grabbing them to try and fix the situation. I was crying from how much pain my fingers were in and so they had a different nail tech take over. Once she was done, I walked up to the counter and the front desk man told me that the removal would be complementary because she broke my nail. I was confused on why there was no real compensation because of the amount of pain that I was put in and the fact that the nail tech continued to file even after I was crying and trying to pull my hands away. I just agreed, but mentioned that I would be leaving a review about my experience. The front desk man started to get hostile and said that there was no need to threaten him with the review. I told him I would just like to pay and leave because I was done negotiating. He said that he could do 10% off plus the removal fee being covered and then told me that the total came out to $112 after the discount. This left me very confused and I asked about the price, because nothing was adding up. I was getting a discount, but somehow the total was larger. He then tried to explain to me that nails took time and effort and that my total was $112. At this point, I was just frustrated. I agreed to pay the 112 but told him I would not be returning and reminded him that I would be leaving a yelp review. He then agreed to have me pay the price. I was told upfront, but was never compensated for the pain and damage that was caused.
Update: I talked to the manager Haylee and I was offered 20% off my next set which is 5% more than what they offer students. You can tell what businesses do and don’t care about...
