Just tried "Early Birds, A Breakfast Spot" near my house. I have avoided it from its past bad reviews but saw over the last few months they have been getting better reviews, and plus since my family was with me I would be finding out if it was worth it as my family likes good local restaurants.
The place is adorable in the way it's decorated and the coffee was really good. The Server has no personality, couldn't recommend anything other than saying some people like our omelettes. The menu was interesting and I had to turn to reviews online to find what was a good dish here. The reviews were good on the Chicken Fried Steak and the Smashed Potatoes so I went with that because I love a good Chicken Fried Steak and the Smashed Potatoes sounded very good and I teresting. I found out the dish wasn't that good.
The Chicken Fried Steak and Smashed Potatoes is a to be skipped. No flavor, gravy that was blah and the steak overcooked. The eggs were over easy and cooked perfectly. The hot sauce was great but you had to flag them down to get it. All the food was under seasoned. I guess that is better then over seasoned and salty but the flavor wasn't there.
While the food was bland mediocre, there wasn't a spoon to stir my coffee, they only had half and half and no milk alternatives. Even after I asked for a spoon the server never brought me on, and he must have felt like this was a great opportunity to offer to comp my coffee if a put a 5 Star a review on Yelp or Google .
Homie don't play that review comp game / bribe. There are too many great restaurants nearby, one right across the street, and two about a half mile away
The whole time I was eating, the server kept coming back to see if I wanted to close out my bill. Never brought the spoon, never asked how anything was tasting or if I needed more coffee in my empty cup. When I agreed to pay my bill I asked for a refill on the coffee. The Coffee refill was cold.
I go to pay and they have it set for a minimum 20%, 25% or 30% tip. He asked again about giving a five star review for free coffee.
After paying the server hovered around the table like a creeper. It's not like there were people waiting to get in and there were lots of open tables.
Now if you want a similar meal that is a zillion times better and portions that are twice the size and less cost go to Mountain West Eatery across the street.
Kiki's Breakfast Cafe down the street is very good and I would go to Denny's before coming back here.
Fake Five Star Reviews piss me off and Google and Yelp should do something about that.
I do know a lot of businesses that will give you free coffee or appetizer if you just like and follow their page on social media. That's the way it should be.
I'm glad I did not bring my family here and waste $30 per person. The table that was across from me was complaining the whole time to each...
Read moreOpened in April of 2024 by Ryan Labbe and his 81/82 Group Early Birds is located at 5025 Blue Diamond Road, a schlep for most of the Valley and one that has thus far been met with mixed reviews by guests except for obvious Social Media #influencer shills and “critics” grubbing in their car.
Described as “A Breakfast Spot” by signage, or an “off-Strip gem” online, guests arriving too far after the 7am opening can expect a wait despite open tables that go uncleared for up to an hour while table service isn’t much better – in some cases requiring a member of the party to stand up 30 minutes after seating to ask for water.
Pleasantly decorated with a virtual sky and bird photos, a scrolling collection of cartoons on television while iheartradio plays overhead, guests dine at tables high and low with plates arriving as ready – though forget asking for a “Massive” Cinnamon Roll “sold out for weeks,” housemade Chips or other menu items including some of the drinks.
Oddly disorganized on a busy holiday, 81/82’s La Neta and Juliet Cocktail Room far more efficient, once Food arrives he experience picks up whether one chooses to sip Coffee or the creamy “Bird Bath” with classics such as a Corned Beef Skillet or Chicken and Waffles.
Reluctant to serve Syrup without a request, its quality questionable, Early Bird’s “Monte Cristo” is better described as a French Toast Sandwich without enough Jelly while Bananas Foster Pancakes include Ice Cream but fail to booze up or Caramelize the Fruit in a setting where such seems expected.
Not lacking for portions considering a price-point similar to other community Breakfast joints fans of Burgers will be happy to know this version comes as two smashed Patties with all the accouterments while “Phat Elvis” in a lunchbox takes the King’s favorite Sandwich in a new direction thanks to Cinnamon Toast Crunch while omitting the Bacon. EDIT: Sorry to hurt your feelings Ryan, but we tipped your "hard working" people above 20% of what was received. Sorry I'm no Keith Lee or Donald who shines rainbows for a free meal.
Zadie, who I knew LONG before your group, is the only person who checked in. Maybe one woman toward the end? If you watch your video we literally STOOD UP to flag a waitress down for water and all my statements about sold-out items are fact, as well as the long line while empty plates sat on surrounding empty tables.
Comped or not my thoughts echo what others are saying, and 3 Stars is average. FWIW, I never asked for a comp. I called your restaurant on 7/2/24 to ask if you were open 7/4. I got a "let me check" from the person who answered. After a minute on hold I hung up. I then reached out to your PR group who arranged the comp. If you'd like reimbursement for the meal let me know where to send the check. Then my review can be...
Read moreWe came here on April 10th at exactly 10:05AM on their launch day. We were told about a 15 minute wait so we stood outside the restaurant just waiting for the text. It passed 20 minutes so we went inside in which the front door greeter just awkwardly stared at us. We also watched a group of 3 people wearing lanyards that just walked in shortly before we did and got seated RIGHT away. So from the get go, the atmosphere already seemed a bit off with a lot of them seemingly prioritizing people of certain descent and attire, it was definitely interesting.
To the food part, I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich and my partner ordered the Early Bird Benny. We had our order taken right away as soon as we were seated and our waiter was super polite and helpful. He takes our order and this is where it becomes worse.
My partner and I sat there for 48 minutes, just waiting for our food. After the 30 minute mark, I stopped giving grace to the fact that it was their opening day and why the food was taking so long to prepare because the place looked PACKED with employees far more than the customers, it was honestly laughable if it weren’t so pathetic, haha.
The food finally comes and the first bite I took of my smashed potatoes, it was cold. It was like biting into day old baked potatoes. For the aesthetic of the food, the taste and quality definitely disappointed. The Monte Cristo sandwich had this super sweet strange choice of strawberry jam smeared into the ham pieces that resembled a Great Value version of smoked meat while the “Cereal-covered french toast” was literally burnt to oblivion, making the cereal pieces just taste burnt and bitter.
My partner’s eggs Benedict gave him an upset stomach. And that should be all the review there is to that. The Hollandaise sauce split too, haha. But everything else was just bland and typical season-less American food.
We honestly only came here because of Tiktok. This place isn’t more than anything but a sad excuse of a breakfast joint with somewhat aesthetically pleasing atmosphere for your IG pictures. But apart from that, the rebranded iHOP is a thousand miles ahead of Early Birds. That’s how terrible this place was.
Shoutout to the manager though, he took care of our bill and apologized profusely for the mediocre food and wanted us to come back at a better time. The thing is though, we don’t come to new places looking for a handout, we came here for the experience and the promising food we saw advertised but all we left with was utter disappointment. And basing from all of these reviews and with this place already at such a low rating, I wouldn’t be surprised if it weren’t existing anymore a year from now.
Do better. The aesthetic and music choice of the place will never carry the subpar quality of food you can get from here.
11/10 wouldn’t waste gas...
