Very eclectic and charming place. The owners are great and can not say enough about the great wines we had there. A definite must go to place when you are in Julian. We will be back soon.

My wife and I stopped by Blue Door Winery two weekends ago on a hot day. The owner (Cameron?), was helping a couple customers at the end of the bar with sangria. We patiently waited by the sign that said they have wine tastings. She said she’ll be right with us and we said thanks as we looked around. She came over and asked ‘How can I help you?’ My wife said, ‘Hi, we wanted to know about the wine tastings and had a couple questions.’ The woman behind the bar said ‘TALK’ in a very aggressive and curt tone. We were take aback, but figured it’s a hot day, maybe she’s been busy, and we let it go. My wife then asked, ‘what kind of wines are available for tasting?’ The woman said, ‘We only do what we like here, which are dry reds. We also have sangria.’ My wife said, ‘Oh, I don’t really drink red wines, do you have any whites for sale?’ The woman said, ‘AS I JUST TOLD YOU, WE ONLY DO REDS HERE. We don’t like whites so we don’t offer them’ —(my wife wasn’t asking if we could taste whites, Cameron, she was asking if they had whites available separate from the tasting 🙄). We then said ‘that’s fine, could WE please try the wine tasting?’ and the woman said, ‘So you two are going to share a glass, right?’ At this point, we said we weren’t interested, and my wife asked for her name —‘My name is Cameron, I’m the owner by the way’ —Great Cameron. I have no clue how you’re still in business having the personality of a grapefruit. As we walked away, the woman said, ‘I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU!’ I would understand the attitude if she was super busy, but there was only 1 family in front of us in the entire establishment. I would also understand her nasty attitude if we were rude and disrespectful, but we were not. Looking back, the whole interaction was quite comical. Reading some other reviews on here, it’s nice to know we weren’t the only ones who received terrible customer service from this woman.

We love visiting Julian, and my wife had always wanted to visit the Blue Door, so we finally did. It was the complete opposite experience from what we were expecting. They need some competition to humble them a little bit. Some manners and mutual respect with clientele...

Before we stopped in, I had read a review saying “dog friendly”. They are not dog friendly, unless they’re discriminating towards large dogs! We walked in and the lady waiting on people yells “is your dog cool?” I responded “I hope so!” Then, she yells again “is your dog cool with people? I just need to know if your dog is going to bite a small child in the face or bite my dog.” I was so confused why she was yelling at me and putting me on the spot with a large crowd of people asking these questions. My husband and I felt so uncomfortable. How am I supposed to know if her dog is friendly because obviously the dog’s owner isn’t! If a place is saying they’re “dog friendly”, it’s supposed to be for the customer’s dogs, not “if the dog gets along with the employees dog”. Walked out, unprofessional and horrible customer service! I’d never recommend this place to anyone and will never...

This place was incredible! Not only was the sangria absolutely delicious, (you know I got a growler to go!) the customer service was top notch! Cameron and Marc are so inviting and attentive and the service that we received made us feel right at home. They went above and beyond when I left my purse back at our table and once I realized Cameron had already contacted me and ensured that my purse was mailed back to me the very next day so I wouldn't have to make the 2 hr drive back. I am so extremely grateful that I had the pleasure of meeting this amazing couple. The world needs more people like this!!! We will definitely be going back and recommending this winery to...
