So our second stop was at the Julian Pioneer Museum. This place is run by volunteers and there is a $3 donation fee, not bad at all. There is no actual parking in this property but there is street parking, if you are lucky enough to find any that is lol. This is quite a small place but it is filled with a lot of old information from this town. From the original pioneers, many old artifacts, how they cooked, the kind of clothes they wore. What was surprising is that they actually have a lot of things that are not closed up in display cases. Mostly everything here has a sign for you not to touch anything, which is understandable all this stuff is really old. There is a table in the front that they will let you touch though lol it's of dead animals fur and snake skin lol. It's was very informative and interesting for a...
Read moreMy brother and I read the sign no food, drinks, or dogs so my brother waited outside. I came in the museum and I saw two guys talking to each other. They didn't say hi. I found out later it was a $3 admission to get in. I didn't know that. I'm not going to stand there snd read every sign. He could have just let me know it's a 3 dollar charge. I honestly felt like they were kind of racist. I saw three white guys come in to the building and the guy at the front desk seemed smiley and nice to the guys. I did not get that reaction from him. I came back out and I told my brother don't go in there. They seem like they only like...
Read moreOk for a rainy day. The museum has no flow. It’s more like a place that has the towns artifacts in storage. It doesn’t tell a story. It’s very disconnected . It jumps from multiple decades so the museum leaves the visitors wondering about the timeline. The native Americans section almost seems disrespectful and the gold rush section didn’t really tell a story. So basically a bunch of stuff thrown in a room. I didn’t find the volunteer/ docent whose ever interested in Sharing or anything about the museum. I actually would recommend the museum in Ramona it surprisingly great and the staff is inviting. That’s ...
