Castro Valley Farmers' Market — Attraction in Castro Valley

The Farmers Market is open in theory from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The reality is that most of the vendors are open by 8:30 a.m. and a lot of them sell out by 12:30. This is particularly true for strawberries and corn. Beginning in late Spring, thru Summer and into Fall, there's a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, plus seafood, baked goods, and a fresh flower stand. The rest of the year it's primarily fresh vegetables and food truck style vendors altho there is always some type of fruit available. Occasionally there are specialty items: small plants, handmade soaps, ceramics, etc.--although not all of the specialty items are there every weekend. Some of the best pastries I ever had in my life. Wide variety of veggies & fruits. Pacheco Family Ranch knocks it out of the park with their pasture raised beef; Ribeyes, NY strip steak, etc, Berkshire pork chops are divine! The stands varies. We frequent the apple stand - he is very knowledgeable about his apple and if you have questions, he will tell and educate you about apples. It's sweet and just the right amount of tart. Never been a fan of apple before because it has no taste and super tart but his apple retain flavors and sweetness and a little bit of tart and smells amazing.
