Hong Kong BBQ Restaurant — Restaurant in Castro Valley

We decided to try this place without expecting any issues, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. After receiving our food, we kindly asked the gentleman handing it to us if we could get four additional mini chili oils. He kept giving us just one, and when we asked again, he told us it was $1 each. We couldn’t believe it—especially after spending $72 on food and only receiving three mini chili oils. It’s frustrating because when you dine in, you get unlimited Sriracha and chili oil. It’s confusing why this would be such a hassle for takeout, especially when we’re Mexicans who love spicy food. Definitely won’t be returning after this experience.

We ordered the shrimp fried rice, and while it tasted good, it didn’t come cooked with soy sauce like we expected. A heads-up would’ve been nice. I entered this place and sat down at the seat next to the door. It wasn't real busy, as two other tables were eating and the take out line was 1-2 customers. About 5-minutes goes by and I try to get 'some-ones' attention. I was going to get up and go to the counter to ask for help [like getting a menu] but a party of 4 [asian] customers came in and sat at the table behind me. A waiter finally saw me [he did look at me] and.....gave the menus to the asian party of 4. I mean, I was there first and this waiter just walks by me like I'm not there. I've had this kind of thing happen here before but it was much busier and I just wrote it off to the crowd. This time, it just pissed me off. So, I got up and left. I would have given zero stars, if I could. If this establishment wants to service patrons out of order and/or larger parties over single patrons [and 'possibly' prejudiced against non-asian clients], I just won't waste my time giving them ANY of...

I think they changed ownership. The servers are different people & the cook was argumentative about cooking my eggs a little longer for beef & egg over rice. I don't like my eggs runny over rice. Update 12/10/21: when for take out. It was a disaster area. They were not well organized. Patrons were confused about where the line was & started to aggressively push to the front of the counter. Staff took orders but didn't announce what orders were ready. So, it was up to everyone to move forward in the crowd to identify their bag with their order receipt taped to the bag. While waiting for my order (40 mins), they had to redo 2 large separate orders. The customers had to wait an additional 30 mins. They are so disorganized... it is pitiful. I'd think twice...
