DO NOT, and I mean EVER, shop at GameStop if you value happiness in your life.
If there’s even the slightest chance of an issue, you can bet it will not only happen but hit like a torrential downpour.
I ordered a Magic: The Gathering Commander deck online. They sent the wrong one. I called customer service, only to be outsourced to a representative who barely spoke English. I explained my issue, and he assured me, “Don’t worry about it. Just bring it into a store, and they’ll exchange it and send the correct one.”
So, I drove 20 minutes to the GameStop in Addison, Illinois. The employee looked at me as if I were insane—offering terrible customer service—and said there was absolutely nothing he could do. On top of that, he was a complete jerk.
Frustrated, I called customer service again. This time, I was connected to another barely comprehensible representative, who told me not to worry and that I’d receive an email with a prepaid FedEx return slip. I’d just have to send the incorrect item back, and they would ship me the right deck.
Guess what? The email never came.
I called a third time—at this point, I could hardly believe it. The representative apologized profusely, assured me they’d send the email immediately… and once again, it never arrived. And yes, they had my correct email.
In all my years, I have never encountered such horrendous customer service. This is the first time a company has made zero effort to resolve my issue. Any reputable business with publicly traded stock wouldn’t dare treat customers so carelessly, but given GameStop’s financial decline, it’s clear they’re just a poorly run, unethical money grab at this point.
Never. Ever. Shopping. There. Again.
I placed an order. They sent the wrong item. And then did absolutely nothing to fix it—no refund, no exchange, nothing.
I am utterly flabbergasted by such staggering incompetence. It’s disgusting. I officially loathe GameStop.
DO. NOT....
Read moreFirst of all, I just want to make it clear that I almost never willingly shop at GameStop for anything. There are far better stores out there that don't try to sell you used/store display items as brand new and at full price. Maybe once or twice every year though, GameStop has some surprisingly good deals through their clearance section both online and in-store.
This was one of those times. I ordered a few PS4 games that were on clearance for under $5 each for in-store pickup. A few days went by and I got an email from GameStop stating that my order was picked up. But here's the thing... I never picked it up!
I then called this GameStop location to find out what was going on because they were supposed to have my order. The employee over the phone told me that my order was picked up by DoorDash for some reason (I chose in-store pickup, NOT local delivery). I asked her what was going to happen, because this was clearly this GameStop location's screw-up, not mine.
She then told me that there was nothing she could do and that I'll have to call my card issuer to potentially get refunded. This experience only served as a reminder of why I don't shop...

Here is an tip for Gamestop employees you should show the customers the preowned items before you sell it to them especially if they have an disability because sometimes people can’t afford The warranty plan.
Instead Minnie she was very helpful to figure the situation out but I didn’t Really want an Nintendo switch lite All I really wanted was my money back.
