H. Dana Bowers Rest Area, the first stop after crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, offers stunning views perfect for day or night photography. Trails and vista points provide ample opportunities to capture the iconic bridge from various angles. Restrooms are under construction, but porta-potties and wash stations are available, though they may not be pristine. Overnight stays are generally safe, with regular CHP patrols and the presence of other campers. However, keep a safe distance from the numerous raccoons who frequent the area in search of food. While adorable, they are wild animals and can be unpredictable.

Must see Vista with a fabulous view on Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, and tge Bay. Pay attention to the Lone Sailor statue and 4 bas-reliefs praising Merchant Marines, Marines, The Navy, and the Coast Guard. Also, read about the architect who led the landsaping works around the Golden Gate Bridge H. Dana Bowers. Respect.

This vista gives beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Alcatraz and more. Just a nice place to stop just off the highway coming off the Golden Gate Bridge, North bound for us. It is free to visit and had restrooms and a good amount of parking. I highly recommend visiting if going by.
