I sadly would not recommend Hands in Art Studio in Mission, Texas based on my recent experience. We did the pottery class, which allows you to make two ceramics but only keep one. As a beginner, I found the instructions a little too brief, and when I was struggling, the staff ended up taking over and doing it for me. While I know they meant well, it did take away from the hands-on part of the experience. They also emphasized keeping the clay wet, but when mine was considered “too wet,” my piece was discarded—which left me with only one ceramic. I wish this had been explained more clearly at the start. After waiting three weeks, my final piece unfortunately came back with a crack. I was told this happened because the bottom was too thin, but since the staff had taken over that part, it felt disappointing. I was also told I would need to pay extra to reglaze it. Overall, I appreciate the creativity this studio offers, but I think clearer guidance, better communication, and more support for true beginners would make the experience much...
Read moreDO NOT COME HERE. It’s a scam and waste of money. My boyfriend and I came to a pottery class back in July and it was all fine and the total for both of our pottery plus our extra pots came out to $80. We were told it would take about 4 weeks for them to be fired and have everything done. It’s been more than 3 months and we received no call or email or any sort of communication from them. I have called multiple times different days and times to try and reach them but no answer! And it’s times when their open too so I don’t know why they never answer phones. I emailed them on their website but they still haven’t gotten back to me. Waste of money. It would’ve been nice if we received what...
Read moreMy teens had fun making pottery. They were assisted by the staff when they had trouble shaping the pottery. Afterwards they got to paint it however they wanted. Instructions were given briefly on the pottery & paint & dry process. You are given 2 chances to make pottery and you can choose one of the two which is covered in the price of the class, but you are given the option to purchase the 2nd pottery creation for $5 more. The place is small but their classes go by reservation so it is the right amount of people in there & it wasn't at all crowded. Parking was a bit difficult. Street side parking was full and wasn't sure where else I was able to park without getting in...
