Feedback on My Son’s Birthday Party at Hyper Kidz
I recently hosted my son’s birthday party at your facility. While the play area itself is neat, clean, and very well maintained, my overall experience was not very positive due to the service we received from the party host and staff.
The assigned host, Kiara, was very slow, unattentive to the decorations, and did not seem friendly or engaged. In fact, when I asked her to be more active and involved in decorations, she went to another staff member and complained instead, and that staff member then sided with her rather than assisting with the party. I actually had to leave my children to help her with setting up the party room, which should not have been my responsibility. The cake table was not even ready until 5:30 p.m., when guests had already started entering the room after the bubble dance. Later, another host named Natalie was assigned to the room, and she showed a much stronger sense of responsibility. She was quick to act and stepped in around 5:30 p.m. to help set up the cake table, serve pizza, and manage things more efficiently. Overall, the staff appeared rude and unwelcoming. In the middle of our celebration, while we were still eating, one staff member came into the party room to request left over billing payment, which was extremely disruptive and inappropriate.
Compared with other indoor play venues where we have hosted parties, I felt little support from the staff. At those venues, the hosts go above and beyond to make the party enjoyable and stress-free, which was not the case here.
To make matters worse, one of our gift bags from a close Indian friend went missing. All gift bags had been placed outside on the cart during cake cutting, and despite my personally directing my friend to put her gift bag there, it was gone afterward. This has never happened at any other venue.
I chose Hyper Kidz because of how clean and fun the play area is, but the poor attitude of the staff and lack of support made the day far more hectic and stressful than it should have been. I strongly recommend that staff training be improved to emphasize professionalism, customer service, and making guests feel welcome.
Thank you for taking the time to hear my feedback. I hope that future families have a smoother and more enjoyable experience than we...
Read moreUpdate: we came back to HK again 2 days ago (because we love it there). Resha was working again and I just can't say it enough...she is a gem! She has a great personality and is very welcoming. She is the perfect person to work with kids. It's very obvious she enjoys her job very much.
I've been there a few times now and the young ladies at the front desk/check in area are amazing! I wish I had the name of the first girl who helped us but Resha was who checked us in yesterday (Thursday 4/17/25) and she was awesome! Greeted us with a smile, very friendly and was a pleasure to talk to. It truly makes a difference when someone enjoys their job and it's very apparent Resha does.
I would like to maybe make a suggestion though. I was there with my 4 yr old grandson who is autistic and non verbal. There was a young man working the floor who may be new, but I think its super important that these kids (staff) learn how to be warm and friendly to children. It may not be a bad idea to do a small training or something regarding special needs children. Nothing intense, but something that makes them aware that there are children whom are different and may not communicate the same way. My grandson was throwing balls out of the pit and I was intervening but this young man's reaction was just a little harsh in my opinion. I did tell him that he is non verbal and that he communicates differently but the tone seemed to be too much for any child. I'm not trying to get him in trouble because it may be his first job and he will learn along the way....but it really bothered me yesterday so I wanted to pass the suggestion along.
Otherwise, we love Hyper Kidz! My daughter works at one of your other locations and she loves it there. I hear stories about how great the owners are, which says alot! Thank you for opening one in Rockville! Customers...
Read moreCame for the first time yesterday (Friday afternoon) and it was probably the most pleasantly surprising experience I’ve ever had at one of these indoor playground places. VERY CLEAN and well maintained. My 14 month old had so much fun hobbling around from area to area exploring. We stayed mostly in the younger kid 0-2 years and the 3-7 years areas as the older playground area was a little too advanced for my little one. Front desk staff was friendly and got us checked in quickly. We signed up on the spot for an annual membership because it’ll pay for itself in no time.
Came again today (Saturday) and BIG MISTAKE. The place was packed to the brim with birthday parties and children. It was quite overwhelming and overstimulating for my toddler, let alone both me and my husband. This is, however, not Hyper Kidz fault because obviously any place is going to be busier given that it’s a weekend. Just wanted to warn people to come on a weekday to thoroughly enjoy the wonderful facility.
Also, I do wish that there was more of an enforcement of not allowing older kids to run into the 0-2 year old area since there are children who are still learning or having just learned to walk and still quite unsteady on their feet. A few times some older kids, in their excitement of being at such a cool fun place, got very close to knocking my toddler over. Just some advice for Hyper Kidz if they read this. The areas for very young children are limited on a busy weekend, especially since the older kids can run around unsupervised.
Overall, I love this place. Will definitely be coming back a lot during...
