Local Vacation Rentals - Tahoe Rental Management — Attraction in Incline Village-Crystal Bay

Pathetic vacation rental experience in April 2024 in the Lake Tahoe area. Unresponsive, negligent and incompetent company (LOCALVR, which seems to use a few different names depending upon which market you are renting in).

To begin with, they overcharged us versus what was shown in our confirmation which may be a criminal offense. Ongoing discussions with the local and state authorities will tell. They did not clean the rental in advance despite charging $300 per rental for such a service as evidenced by the unsanitary and hazardous conditions we encountered with an overflowing bucket of smelly garbage left inside the structure to greet us upon our arrival plus litter scattered around outside the rental and a fine collection of empty beer and wine bottles perched above our heads on a beam just waiting to fall. Nice frat house touch! Their online vacation rental listing was solid fiction, but not what we saw and experienced. In short, the rental was unfit for occupancy upon our arrival so we refused to stay and they were notified of that fact immediately. We also demanded a refund. They of course refused to refund any of our money. They “claim” that they asked for pictures and we provided none. Another of their lies as we took and provided several as we are doing in this Google review. LOCALVR also ignored inquiries from multiple companies and agencies trying to resolve this matter. They have an F rating with the BBB which is very well deserved.

Don't fall for their misleading online property listings. They shouldn't be in business. Avoid them and ANY property they “manage.” If I could have rated them negative 5 stars I certainly would have. They use phrases like "5-star guest experience" and "white glove cleaning." What a joke!

While LOCALVR likes to term our efforts Spam in spreading the truth about their misdeeds and lack of performance, we know that it is an honest necessary uncovering of this company’s incompetence, negligence, misdeeds and misrepresentations presented in the hope that other renters will not have their vacations ruined and their money pilfered unjustifiably and that owners will list their properties elsewhere to avoid incidents like this caused by LOCALVR and its representatives. Avoid them and ANY property...

Conclusion first because the review is going to be long : Great team, great service, super responsive and warm hospitality If you are looking at any property they manage for vacation, look no further they are really great!

My experience: We 2 couples booked an airBnB managed by Local Vacation Rentals when we had our annual Lake Tahoe trip -- we always rent an airBnB to stay one whole week every year. Usually when a vacation home is managed by a company not actual home owner, we usually expect it's "just professional" . Well, Local VR is absolutely exceed our expectations. (and beyond what we need). First the check-in process they really made the information as clear as possible prior to our arrival. The house is well designed and maintained.. all utilities are maintained so well and clean just like there is a home owner care so much. We traveled a lot and we are usually maintenance people. When I had to ask questions on small things (where to find what..... how to control something...etc), they amazingly always respond quickly and provide very relevant and precise information - yes, they know all the details of the house so well. When there is a low-temp weather warning, they also proactively provide helpful tips to us too. This is probably our best vacation-home management company interaction experience ever!! All the experience above is already amazing. and.......and last but not least, after we left, we actually left our iPAD :( . iPAD is not a cheap thing and have personal data in it ,so of course we feel nervous. I tried not to be too pushy but I indeed was anxious, especially I know it has to spent some time to check carefully in small areas or behind / between the furnitures to find that iPAD (when we left we did look at all the room. that's why we know the iPAD must be at somewhere not obvious at all) . The team responded to us quickly and give us a sense that they will work on looking into this for us. The hospitality is amazing. and.. they found it , proactively update us right away and offer to mail the ipAD back to us.

We feel really grateful for the team behind localVR. I am already looking at the properties they managed and hope to book another vacation with them :)

We are so pleased with our decision to have Tahoe Rental Management oversee the management of our Lake Tahoe home in that we are out-of-state owners and are not able logistically to handle the rentals, maintenance, upkeep, and cleaning ourselves. We have used various management companies in the past but TRM has been exponentially more reliable, efficient, easy to work with, and successful in booking rentals for us.

We have the utmost trust and confidence in Conor and Tamara as evidenced by their “hands on” approach and availability in our absence to attend to the details of maintaining a home and also their awareness of what a renter is looking for and expects in finding accommodation in an area like Lake Tahoe. They are always on top of communicating with timely responses to potential and current renters, as well as to ourselves as owners, with any questions, issues or suggestions. Because of their friendliness and these management qualities our rental income has increased many times over in the 18 months that we have been working together.

We would highly recommend Tahoe Rental Management in managing your vacation property because of our very positive experience working with them.
