tl;dr
Matress World staff is unbelievably rude. Buy online, the prices / promotions are better and you won't be treated so poorly :)
Full Review:
My wife and I are in the market for a new matress as our current memory foam mattress has seen better days - broken down, old and uncomfortable. When researching mattresses online I stumbled across Nectar, which is comparable to Purple or Leesa but more affordable. After reading reviews and seeing that the King size was in our budget ($999 for a king with either free pillows or $200 voucher) I was super interested and really wanted to test it out before biting the bullet (even though Nectar has a 365 night trial - I'm sure returning a mattress is troublesome).
Enter Mattress World, the local mattress store that sells Nectar. My wife and I decided to head over Sunday afternoon and lay on one to make sure the bed lived up to it's marketing. After laying on it for just a moment, I knew that this was "the one" and my wife agreed. Honest marketing is good marketing. At this point a sales person ;didn't catch her name) wandered over and mentioned the Sealy next to the Nectar but I informed her that it was out of our price range and that we would be buying the Nectar online. She mentioned that they might be able to get it delivered sooner than ordering directly from Nectar but I kindly let her know we weren't in a rush and we're looking to buy it when moving in a few weeks. Then, being insistent, the sales person asked if I would instead like to support a local business to which I answered no, I'll be buying the mattress online (we are upgrading from a queen to king and want to use the $200 voucher from Nectar to get a base/frame - which wasn't available at Mattress World)
Unfortunately, this is when things went south. Not liking my answer she replied, saying that it was unfortunate that I'd made that decision and I was rude for coming in and proceeded storm off. Taken aback, I asked her if she handled all interactions like this and let her know that she had been rude. She again said we were rude for coming in.
Wow, just wow! I'm not sure if she was having a bad day or thought this was how you handle losing a sale. Whatever the case, she was super unprofessional and extremely rude. This is hands down the worst experience I've had at any sort of furniture store or any store at all. I will never go back to Mattress World and would recommend that you don't either. No wonder people buy online and brick and mortar stores are shutting down.
I'd suggest working on your customer service if you want your store to succeed. Or put a sign on your door that says "If you aren't planning on purchasing a mattress here, please, don't come in" so people know...
Read moreWe went to the Clackamas Town Center Store on Thursday, 4/18 to look at the selection of Massage Chairs. Sales rep Davis T. helped us and asked about the style of massage we enjoy. He directed us to two possible chairs and explained the features/benefits. Davis was very knowledgeable and spent over 30 minutes with us. We really liked the OHCO M.8 Neo. The operation is smooth and it has many combined features that are not available on most other chairs. After sleeping on it, we returned on Friday, 4/19 for a second look. Sales rep Gary R. was in-store and answered some follow up questions and helped us finalize the purchase. We were told it could be delivered on Sunday. Wow...super fast! We enjoyed there was no pressure to purchase, rather a ton of great information shared by the two salesmen that helped us make an informed buying decision.
The delivery guys arrived on Sunday during the stated time window. They were less than pleased that we live in a split-level home and they had to carry the chair up 8 steps. After a round of disappointment around the drama, signing a waiver in case they damaged the stairs, etc.; the chair arrived in its final location with no damage done. Perhaps they could be prepared by the sales team asking about the home where the chair is being delivered and make notes to prepare the delivery staff. The delivery guy said the sales team just wants to make the sale and don't care about the delivery scenario. I doubt that's the case...it was a breakdown by lack of information to manage expectations. To expect every house is a single level is unrealistic.
Nonetheless we enjoyed the sales experience and thanked the delivery guys for their hard work. It's time...

My mattress arrived 2 days ago. I got more sleep on my new mattress over the last two nights, than I had in the previous two weeks. I cant thank Emerald and the Happy Valley Mattress World staff enough for the wonderful gift of sleep.
Ok, it wasn't a gift, but the deal I got sure was! I've been dealing with chronic pain for 30 years, and it got to the point where 4 hours of sleep was a great nights sleep. I purchased a 'good' mattress a few years ago thinking that I was getting the most from my mattress. I was wrong. Desperate for sleep, I stepped up to an Aireloom Luxetop, it was at a price point I had never before thought of spending on a mattress.. My salesperson, Emerald, worked with me on the price and got me set up with financing so that it fit in my disability budget, sort of. But they offer a great exchange option, so I had nothing to lose. This Aireloom Marin is worth every penny. I am stunned that the old maxim, you get what you pay for, is so true in the mattress business. There are no pressure points on my arthritic joints, my overheating is gone, my back doesn't ache every morning, it really is a life changing mattress. Two days ago, I would have read a statement like that and scoffed at it, but the reality is that you can get a much better night sleep on a high quality mattress. The difference is something you need to experience.
Thanks again Ms. Oswalt, the delivery guys, and all others involved in making this a dream, instead of the nightmare that is no,...
