HOSTILE STAFF - Facilities are excellent, water, clean bathrooms, dump station during season. A lot of parking, picnic areas and little cute bunnies hoping around in the morning. The staff on the other hand...a lady that works in the office parked next to us, got out of her car and told us to leave because we had been there more than 4 hours and that she had called the WY hwy patrol. We waited for the cops to show up but they never did, we stayed as long as we needed to. I called the WY DOT to report her, they confirmed we could stay as long as we needed to, just not overnight. After the DOT contacted her manager, she came and moved her car and then started speaking loudly with other visitors (maybe people she knew?) about our length of stay, those people later drove by us shouting making hand signals, not sure if they were passing through or if she knows them and called them to come up there. We were inside our van with the sliding door open (privacy screen down) from 9am to 3pm, taking up 1 parking spot and using a picnic table for about 30 mins, not sure what we did to earn...
Read moreBeautiful rest area with clean, nice facilities and amenities. Signs indicate no camping. We pull a small camper, had been driving all day and chose this rest area to stop, eat and rest because of the great reviews. The information center was closed when we arrived around 5:30 pm. As the sun was setting we went for a walk and were approached by a man that works for the facility. He informed us there is no overnight camping as per Wyoming state law and the sheriff would come through and write us a ticket. We told him we were traveling across country and were not ‘camping’, just parking and taking a break. We wanted to sleep but feared receiving a ticket so drove a few more hours and over nighted in Montana. A few reviews mentioned it being a safe place to overnight-taking a break to sleep overnight is NOT camping. Would love clarification on what is allowed in Wyoming and if others have received tickets at any of...
Read moreI'm a truck driver. This is the first rest area I've been to with signs all over the place saying that dogs aren't allowed on the grass. The dog area is quite a walk from where you park your truck, but somehow you're supposed to get there without your dog being on the lawn. Also the dog area has a bunch of tall grass on the side of a hill. My dog didn't lose the ball I was using to play fetch with her, but that was definitely a possibility, due to the tall grass. Other than that, this is a nice rest area. There are a lot of hilly areas, places to have a barbecue, and places to walk to get some exercise. I just don't understand what the big deal is with having dogs...
