We opted for the Simply Married package. When we first got engaged, I reached out to inquire about the package and to book a spot a year in advance. I was told that these types of ceremonies are booked up to a few days in advance and to reach back out no earlier than 3 months prior to the preferred date. Upon doing so, the staff was able to accommodate my request for date & time and indoor location, although the days of the week and available locations for the Simply Married ceremonies had changed. I was delighted with this, since we had been making these arrangements for a year. Upon arriving to the venue for the ceremony approximately 20-30 minutes early, it appeared all staff had left for the day. All of the downstairs lights were off and the doors were locked. I tried calling the number on the door as well as the number provided in previous email contacts and received no response. It was not until my Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law went upstairs and knocked on the doors that someone greeted us. We were told we did not have an appointment and it wasn't until I mentioned the person's name I'd spoken to that they asked us to wait a minute to call and verify details. Mind you, all of this time my husband and I are standing outside in the Florida heat in our full wedding attire. They let us in minutes after our appointed time. In previous email communications, the venue had approved that we could have approximately 20 minutes after the ceremony for photos if there were no appointments following ours. We were rushed all during this time as the gentleman said he needed to get back upstairs to help his coworker clean up. We were given a USB in the shape of Tavares Pavilion as an apology. Upon emailing the venue following the confusion to explain my disappointment, I was informed the USB was a gift to apologize for their mix-up and was told I was only allotted 8-10 minutes for photos afterwards, even though previous email communications on my end had indicated at least 20 and I was told this...
Read moreWhile the place is lovely, a couple of things should be brought to the attention of any couple who are planning to have their wedding there. First, there should be more seating areas for elderly or pregnant guests where they host the cocktail hour. Second, which to me outweighs anything else negative that could of happened there. THE "LAKE BUGS" WERE HORRENDOUS!! On arrival we were told "oh they do not bite." WRONG!!!!! Many guests were bitten and several guest suffered swelling of areas where they were bitten. One needed medication. With that said, the venue REFUSED to let anyone in before the allotted time with guests being attacked for over 15 minutes. (There is NO parking nearby, so couldn't run to the car) Management should have immediately contacted bride and groom to let them know what was happening if it was the couple's wishes not to allow anyone in. The manager chose not to do it, which resulted in a unpleasant time. Why in the world would management/owners NOT have some type of accommodation for guests if this is a "NATURAL" occurrence that happens there. Something should have been done to accommodate people in a situation like this. I get that it's "mother nature" but this bride wasn't told about it and SHE WASN'T TOLD THAT WHITE ATTRACTS THEM. Her pictures were even affected. This was supposed to be a happy, joyous event and many, many people headed home with bites all over arms, legs and faces. I would NOT recommend this...
