Great little historic site on the Santa Fe trail. In order to get a tour, visit Kaw Mission Historic site up the street and around the corner. Someone on staff will go back with you to let you in. Once inside, you will learn about trading and commerce and the Santa Fe trail.

This building has an amazing history, it's just a shame that it isn't being used and you can't go inside. During the heyday of the Santa Fe Trail, this store was the last place that travelers could stop for supplies of the way west. From the outside the building seems to be in great condition still, but it doesn't seem to be used for anything. (It would make a great museum about the Santa Fe Trail in general.) There is a plaque outside showing it is recognized as part of the Santa Fe Trail by the national park service and there is an informative...
