Read moreBeneath the ever-changing skies of Crescent City lies the Battery Point Lighthouse, a sentinel perched on the edge of the Pacific, guarding its secrets with weathered walls and whispers of the sea. Visiting at low tide is an otherworldly experience, the path to the island appearing like a bridge summoned by forces unknown. Once there, the air seems heavier, filled with the haunting melody of the whales’ song, carried by the wind from the vast ocean beyond. On lucky days, their silhouettes break the surface, as if drawn to the lighthouse’s enigmatic pull.
The tides themselves feel unnatural—strange currents swirl around the island, as though the water conspires to conceal something. And then there’s the lighthouse keeper, a mysterious and incredibly kind figure who greets visitors with a polite but knowing smile. Battery Point isn’t just a lighthouse; it’s a portal to mysteries untold, where the sea and sky blend into a tale yet to be fully written. But beware—the ocean keeps her...

There are 'squirrels' all around the grounds and it seems that people have been feeding each as several came up to my leg looking for food. One should NOT feed these 'wild' animals as one has no idea when one will turn mean or carry a disease.
Crescent City boast that this Lighthouse as one of its most attractive tourist sites, but has done nothing to improve the access or the signage from US-101. One would hope that in the future it will build 'handicap' ramps that are above the high-water line so that those with physical disabilities, children, and seniors can...
