I had not been out to the bridge for many many years. We decided to head out there and check it out. A couple of changes I notices is a nice play area on one side for the kids and it looks like a splash pad has been added to the other side. One thing to keep in mind is it isn't really "stroller" or ADA friendly. On one side, you can easily access the bridge by just walking out on it, but when you get to the other side, it is steps down off the bridge. The bridge does SWING....hence the name. If you have a mean family member with you who wants to torment you, they may even choose to jump up and down on the bridge, making it move more.....or worse yet, getting it swinging sideways, which is the worst! You can physically see the bridge twisting when they do that. There are boards that seem a little sketchy and even a few small gaps, so if you get fearful easily.....they may scare you a little. It appears safe though. As a plus size woman, I was completely comfortable crossing it without the fear of falling through!
Go out, have fun, but just know the limitations that...
Read moreThe swinging walk bridge is exactly what you'd expect a swinging walk bridge to be. Watched an older woman cross and she didn't appear to have any trouble. Upon reaching the other side, though, she just turned her head a couple times to look around before walking back across. I guess there wasn't anywhere interesting to be once she crossed.
Only a short drive west of Lexington so the detour off M25 no big deal. And the town has a McBurger joint if you're into McFood. The unisex public restrooms near the bridge were filthy. Shouldn't blame the bridge nor the town for visiting slobs who must've been talking on their cell phones whilst peeing. Hey, if they can't pay attention to aim their cars while talking on a cell don't expect them to be ant better at aiming...
Read moreDuring the summer and fall times a lot of events and functions happen. During the rainy season be careful of sinking in mud near the park, which is a wonderful place to bring your children to play, or bring a date and enjoy a picnic! Lots of activities to do around this area and Pokemon Go fans can play at the stops nearby. They had to close the public restrooms as of the winter season because of graffiti and destruction of property, which is pretty sad because they are available to the public for free. People sometimes trash this area, even though its upkept fairly well, my thought is to get some hidden cameras in the area to find out who the vandals are and what times they usually show up. Love hanging out with friends here and having walks with...
