There IS an expansive amount of things to do here, hence the two stars. HOWEVER, the Sacred Spaces exhibit seems very limited in its representation of African Americans. There's maybe two or three blips, and one is at the very back of the exhibit. The other is in a whole other room. The African representation is notably annexed off to the side. These placements show what sponsors of that particular exhibit hold in highest regard. The upper floor also always smells like mildew/wet carpet near the space and Dino Dig areas. There should be a way get back to the front of the museum since THE VAULT is for museum members only right now, and it connects the back to the front. The price increase (coming later this month) along with poor representation of marginalized communities will probably make us skip this place in favor of Figge. We've also done a birthday here and it was not up to par. People working that day had no designated space for us, and then the room they stuck us in had super sticky floors and dirty tables. We also were rushed out at the end of our party, without apologies. Staff was not accommodating, and it felt like we were asking the world of them for the smallest things (i.e. ice). Overall, the Putnam needs better customer service, a more thorough cleaning, and a better understanding of the people...
Read moreI had a wedding reception hosted here on the 19th and must say that we had an absolutely fantastic event all because of Emily, the event coordinator. Stuff would not have gone even close to as smoothly as it did without her. Emily got stuff done quickly and efficiently without any complaints from either side. She is incredibly personable, and if I ever needed another event hosted I would love to have her be in charge again. 5 stars is not nearly enough (even though it is a perfect score) to give her and the Putnam as I am extremely well pleased with both setting up and taking down the reception. Emily was also able to “make stuff work” that we wanted. To make that night, my wife and I’s special day. She was so kind and was able to explain the packages that we could choose from to make the event PERFECT. The ability to have my guests go through the museum and entertain themselves was also an amazing opportunity! A massive thanks to Emily and the Putnam for putting together something so special for my wife and I. Emily may be just be the perfect person to have for every occasion for ANY event. I would 1000% recommend her to help with any event hosting. (Photos are gonna be added later my photographer hasn’t gotten me all of them to show...
Read moreThis place is absolutely amazing! I've never had a bad experience and I took my daughter here several times.
When you first walk in, there's a hands on science activity with a ball that gets launched to the ceiling, and the kids can play with it while you're in line to pay. They also have a little restaurant in the lobby (which I haven't personally tried, but I appreciate the convenience of having food and drink available in the building) and a 3-D theater that plays several shows throughout a day.
There are about a dozen activities in each area (examples: building tons of different things, making movies and music, dress up, pullies and levers) and even the adults can enjoy most of them.
The areas dedicated to nature are absolutely beautiful and incredibly realistic looking. My personal favorite is the cave, where real water trickles down the caverns!
Every time we've went we've spent several hours exploring the whole place. It's very large. I'd reccomend this museum to everyone!
They arecorded also handicap acessible with ramps...
