Emory University seems like a great school, but in reality, it is poorly equipped in resources and in my opinion, a waste of money. For example, the University invested lots of money in Macintosh computers—80% of the computers on campus are Macs. However, these computers lack even the most basic of software. There are only 6 computers on campus with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop); 2 computers with Matlab; zero computers equipped with basic computer programming languages (Java/C++). The research facilities are very poorly equipped, and many of the supply stockrooms on campus carry expired chemicals. The University really needs to invest more in LEARNING and less in AESTHETICS. However, students enjoy Emory a lot because the coursework is relatively easy and the atmosphere is really laid-back. I overheard one student saying she was only taking “3 classes this semester and one of them is YOGA.” Spend $36,000 a year to learn Yoga? You only need to study about 3 hours for a test to get an A. But Emory students also don’t learn anything useful for...

As great place to host the State Special Olympics, Emory is a wonderful place that suits the needs of this event. Being a high school student which is about to graduate high school, I am looking for a college which will give the best life experiences and potential. This place has great dorms and, overall, a modern architecture that is interesting to the eye and does not leave my imagination to boredom. But instead if just being here for a college visit, I decided to stay for a couple of days and realized flaws which leave me in distaste to the point of not recommending this college. Reasons are: The curriculum seems to be very beginner-like with classes and courses that I have taken as a regular high school classes. Also, eating the food for three days was the worst experience. Everyday it was poor quality food with hardly any taste which brought dissatisfaction to me and my friends at Emory. From the outside it looks very well put together, but in reality, it is just an easy way to get a degree and not be prepared for the real world...

I can't speak about the hospital, but the College is top-notch. As an undergraduate, I have learned new skills side by side renowned professors. I have no idea what Alison TK was talking about; perhaps her review was outdated, but as a math minor I've used Matlab on many Emory pcs and as a psych major I've had the opportunity to assist in research using state-of-the-art technology, including a brand-new fMRI machine. Maybe she was looking in the wrong places, but I can assure you that the computers in the Math/Sci building have software for every programming language. As for the coursework, it's very intense, with most students taking 5 classes under our new credit system. The teachers are generally very supportive however, and there are lots of resources available if you need help. Like many universities, your Emory experience will be what you make of it. But with ample resources, a caring faculty, and (most of all) a diverse and passionate student body, Emory has exceeded my expectations as...
