Went in here today to have a look around. There are alot of old retro carts and some other cool stuff. Pricing is pretty close to average on things. Just a few things I personally would consider over priced. However, if you take another look at the product. It is because it is very clean. And well taken care of by someone. So what i would consider over priced. Would not be for a collector who is missing that game etc. I didnt have but about 20 minutes time before heading to work. And i had multiple questions for 1 of the 3 employees working there. Not to mention i was spoken to as soon as i came through the door. I am the type who doesnt like sales coming to me unless im needing them. However, curtasy goes a long way and you just say. "Im just having a look around". All of these places operate similar to game stop. And in this type of bussiness you do what works in order to stay in bussiness. I did not buy anything today because i was pressed for time. But i will be back. My 20 minute experience was good. I was not ignored like i have read in the comments. When i had questions. I received an answer. A few of these questions was kind of bussiness related ones. And a phone call was made to the owner to answer it. Which was a fair result. Im guessing the age old method of establishing a relationship with people works pretty well still. People need to understand these resale shops & pawn shops work just like a jeweler. You pay with an arm or a leg. And they will buy back a fingernail. Thats how it has always worked. It just depends on you to make the decision. You can always get a little then what these places pay by selling stuff yourself on craigslist or offer up etc. But your in a hurry and need or want cash now. And that is when problems start. You cannot get top dollar for your items. Simply because then the resale price will be higher than what they already are. If you are looking for some childhood memories or collecting. What is it worth to you? It is not the end all shop. There are others. And if you have been looking at other shops. You know where the product is you was looking for and if it is worth picking up. This shop is not that bad. For a note worthy instance. How many shops have you been at will open up the system or cart to show you the inside? This is critical information for a collector to read. None of those guys want repros or fakes. Others just want to have the game period repro or not. I have but just one thing I did not like i saw. And that is the retron 5 console. And it is a personal reason. The company that made the console used other programmers hard work building emulators for the retro games was used in this console without permission of the original creators. So they are basically crooks in my eyes. I wished all of these shops would stop supporting them and support the Retrobit trio plus. They didn't steal someone elses work to make money on it. Well enough of the...
Read moreIt is a shame this place used to be good. I have been driving from Katy to check this place out for a while. I went there today looking for Steelbook Movies. I found one I liked. It has a plastic slip cover and was sealed in plastic. I felt the edge of the steelbook and it felt like there might be a dent. But I could tell if it was the slip cover or the case. I asked the cashier if I could look at it before buying it. He said no because it was "New" and sealed in plastic. I said Ok but I don't want it if the steelbook is damaged. He said "you can buy it and open it up and look at it but if it is damaged there is no refunds" to which I replied "what would be the point of inspecting it after I bought it if you are not going to do anything about it" his response... "You can buy it or not buy it that is up to you." I went ahead ab spent $40 on it hoping for the best. After opening it it not only had the dent that I was worried about but had 3 other dents on the back that were covered by the slipcover. I immediately went back inside and showed the cashier. He said we only do refund if the product doesn't work and the disks are new. I said, yest but the only reason people buy steelbooks is to collect them and this one is worthless with the damage. I guess I took a risk and got screwed. Unfortunately I won't be going back here. They have a good selection of steelbooks but almost all of the have some sort of damage. You expect some shelf wear when buying used steelbooks but not when it is supposed...
Read more0 Stars. The “manager” is worthless. The store doesn’t honor their point policy. I drive here from across town and I make 3 different purchases the same day for several people as gifts with 2 forms of payment and because I was 1 purchase short they wouldn’t honor the point policy. We ended up buying something else and the manager said that i couldn’t keep making purchases to get the point discount. I wasn’t trying to make extra purchases, it just worked out that way. I ended up making another purchase and he didn’t even ask me for my name for the points so I didn’t get points for that in which would have been the purchase I needed to get the points. I’m taking everything back today because none of the games worked anyway and never going back here again. There are way too many retro stores in Houston to drive across town to be told that they won’t honor their policy. On top of that I asked the manager to speak to his boss(owner), he said he was the only person in charge and he refused to get me in contact with his boss (owner), and the asked me for my phone number instead. The manager said that was their policy, basically he’s the only contact. They won’t test games before you purchase them so you are forced to go back if they don’t work to return them, not worth going and totally don’t recommend. Go at your own risk as you will find out...
