I've been going off and on here for a few years as it's the closest around, but honestly, I've had more bad experiences than good come from it. The first dog I brought here was attacked multiple times by different dogs. My current dog, who's just turned a year old, got attacked just today by a dog whose owner wasn't paying attention to it but rather on their phone, and that's my other complaint about this place. A good portion of the owners stand around chatting or on their phones rather than paying attention to their dogs, and some of them at times get into fights because of this. It presents dangerous situations when no one is paying attention. My dog got his face and neck torn open because of the lack of attention from the other dogs owner. The positive things about it is there's lots of water bowls and a water hose and tons of toys and space for the dogs to run, a few benches, lots of bag stations, and poop scoops, it's pretty well kept up with and clean, most people are friendly as are MOST of the dogs. There are two sections as well one for big dogs and one for smaller ones. Just be careful coming here and make sure to pay attention to your dog simply because some people do bring testy or unfriendly/untrained dogs here, and they can get wild and, at times, aggressive. Overall, I probably won't come here anymore due to the fact I've had two different dogs so far be attacked here, and it was 100% preventable. It is unfortunate because I love dogs, but I'm sure I can find a different , safer place to go...
Read moreI tried and enjoyed the small dog park when my pup had finished her vacs. Because of her youth even when she went a bit above the weight limit (20 lbs i think) EVERYONE was so kind and said please stay here for a while more your pup is fine with the little ones. I was very grateful and they warned me to be careful because scuffles were “pretty often”. When my pup gained more weight and confidence - went to big side. Twice. There were several people clustered on the gazebo smoking and not paying attention to their dogs so when the dogs were running (theirs in aggression and mine for her life) they didn’t see their dog bite/scratch my pup. Thought I would try again in case it was new mama jitters and got grossed out when a Shepard was dripping liquid feces as it walked. So that gets a hard pass. Hudson/Benson park appears to have much more involved owners and haven’t seen anyone ignore dog waste or smoke or ignore their dog’s aggression. Bensons is basically a hill and dirt/rock with big trees for shade. Derry is definitely bigger and flat. But not worth the...
Read moreFirst time here, my son and I were surrounded by the other dogs as we came in, this I expect, what I dont expect is a boxer attacking my 7 month old husky whom didn't growl or bark or wimper a sound, owner of this boxer if you see this please dont tell me "he just doesnt know your dog" your at a dog park. I kept my dog on his leash because this was his first time, but because this boxer couldn't be let go from the owner because it was so focused on my dog, I was the told by a gentalman that my son wasn't allowed here. Postings outside said 9 he is 8. I was threatend to have the cops called if I didnt leave (WALKED ONE LAP AROUND THE PARK WITH MY DOG STILL LEASHED). I investigated the regulations on the town website, 8 years of age is fine. Hmmm because I wasn't a "usual" and other dogs couldn't be controlled off leash from being aggressive, I was shunned from the park. Wont return! Ihope the town can enforce their policies better with the people that...
