G Spot Hair Design — Attraction in Des Moines

The first thing about this place was the employees reeked of cigarettes and so did the front desk - There was no hand washing before touching my hair which was pretty offensive considering if you are smoking or touching things that have been around toxic cigarette smoke that’s unclean.

They seemed to know what they were talking about to a certain extent and the quote was not bad - but what gets me if when a business decides to not empower you to make your own decisions and instead uses manipulative marketing so they get paid. Saying “I should be charging you a lot more” is a push/pull dynamic that is toxic and should never be told. By all means know your worth in what you charge but don’t ever make a client feel small.

For some reason there was this power control dynamic from the two workers and even towards me - when I said I considered shaving my hair it was immediately met with “no don’t do that we will fix this mess” talking about my hair - and from the simplest of stand points there was no empowerment or compassion - it was this weird other energetic and I hope this review helps them to not treat people poorly and to really clean up both physically and from a selling standpoint.

I first started coming to G-Spot hair design in 2014 . Of course I was uneducated as a client and went to another hair salon who was ALSO uneducated and completely bleached my hair to the point of ruining it . When I came to G-Spot ( Krista ) she let me know straight up I was way going off the deep end and if I wanted to save my beautiful hair we needed to go about the color the right way ( which is what this previous hair salon should have told me ) now we all know we love instant gratification but what really mattered to me was the fact that she was willing to save my hair and in the future get me to the point of where my hair could be what I wanted . BOY did it pay off . Not only did we inch our way to freaking FABULOUS but I’m basically a walking majestic unicorn 🦄 . Everywhere I go I get gasps , and people running up to me and asking me where I got my hair done . I’ve sat in these salon chairs so many times over these last 4 years they became close friends and anyone that says these ladies are not top notch is obviously out of their MIND !! Yesterday I went here to get my hair cut into a death Hawk. I had grown my hair for 2 years from being bald so is a pretty big decision. She fudged it up so bad. It's a very crooked and from what I understand she might have been the owner. I just feel that more care should have been taken to make sure that my hair was even considering I went to a hairstylist and didn't ask my father to do it. I had been here in the past and had gotten some color and was not satisfied with the color and things. So overall my experience as I've had here are not that great. They did give me a refund and they were very kind over the phone. Just make sure whoever is doing your hair is doing exactly what you want them to do and make sure they can do it before you let them get started. I'm sure they do have a couple of good stylists here I just haven't had an experience with any of them
