Coming to this garden today was a deeply moving experience, Piet Oudolf's quote on the website in regards to garden design being about "emotion, atmosphere, a sense of contemplation" materialized when I visited here today. The first time I read that quote before I came today, it resonated with me to my core. I met and spoke with one of the workers while I was there, who generously shared with me today and taught me so much that I am grateful. You have to pay $11 for a day pass entry if you are out of state. But that's small price to pay for the experience. We are in the midst of a garden revolution that no one has seen since the late 19th century. This is ground zero for the New Perennial Movement. The emphasis is on plants that thrive, which is what gardeners really want. Go for this garden then stay for the uniqueness of the island. I will go back to explore more.
