Was passing thru ATL last week in need of some basic economical "Me" maintenance. Y'know: Hair done, Nails Done, Everything Done -- but on a traveling through budget?
My hairdresser and usual nail salon were milles away. Plus I just hadn't taken time out for myself prior along with y'know, the whole Covid thing going on.
This place was taking Walk Ins as well. Took me 2 days to complete due to scheduling conflicts but well worth it.
First day I was greeted by the receptionist who was super nice and professional named Ashley. She kept me informed of wait times, prices and was very pleasant throughout.
Next up was my barber Ms. Laura. She was also a Supervisor. She was fabulous. Totally knowledgeable of hair textures and barbering Techniques. Thank goodness bcuz I got that water and grease hair that can be difficult at the best of times, LOL. Fun Fact: Ms. Laura Little is also a Stand Up Comedian, Hostess, and Emcee in her off time. So you can get a fresh cut and book her for your next event too! Talk about a multi-tasker!!
The following morning I went back to get my pedicure. Ms. Noi Nail Tech in training is off to a great start. She was knowledgeable and precise, very personable and attentive. When she gets her own shop one day she's going to be formidable.
Now. One downside was Ms. Max. She's a supervisor there who came to inspect Ms. Noi's progress after she had completed the massage and moisturizer portion of the pedicure. Not before.
When she came over, there was no greeting she just stated my toe nails were deformed. And that if she had looked at my feet before that she would have refused service. Look. I'll be the first to admit I've got weird looking toe nails (they slant weirdly in opposite directions..thank you military boots) but I took umbrage at her careless remarks especially since I saw no Podiatrist Certification hanging up anywhere. I'm totally aware that these are students and would not have minded if she had completed a foot examination on every client as they took off their shoes/sandals and socks. But that wasn't the case. So she gets 3 stars due to lack of consistency.
All in all this Beauty School is gonna become my go to when I pass through and I'm looking forward to great things from these students and staff...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went here yesterday 10/31/2023, When I came in the lady already acted like she didnāt want to service me but I looked past it. I asked for a pedicure, of course I know that itās students that will be doing the service but no one informed me before paying that they donāt do refunds nor did they have me sign in the paper up front which is basically a wavier. Now I wouldnāt ask for a refund from a beauty school because I know itās students, I was once them. The lady came down and started my pedicure, first off she dropped the cuticle cutter tool and I asked for a new one but she ācleaned it ā and she started cutting my cuticles and I noticed that she had cotton over one of my toe nails but I just let it go and let her move on to the next, Now sheās moved on to the 2nd from next to my big toe and she cuts me really bad and I tell her to stop! She put cotton over it then tries to continue so then her teacher comes down the stairs and sheās trying to file my bloody toe and sheās trying to wipe the blood up and she throws my foot in the water and Iām like OK Iām like thatās enough! Iām like OK Iāll just get my stuff and Iām gonna go upfront and so I go upfront and I asked for a refund and they told me that they donāt do a refund and Iām telling them that my toe is nonstop bleeding so they get the director and sheās like we donāt do refunds but we give you a school credit and Iām like but my toe is nonstop bleeding and theyāre still going on about not giving me a refund and theyāre still steady talking about we will give you a school credit so I took the school credit and left. It is now day 2 11/01/2023 and my toe is STILL bleeding and hurting like i got cut today !!!
Care more about clientās especially when it comes down to more serious problems like cuts and such things in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went here back in 2010 and got a perfect silk press. I came back in June and it was the worst experience Iāve ever had. I was in there for 2 hours if not longer. The young lady from Chicago was nice and did a great job washing my hair but a lady named Ms. B (who I guess is a teacher there??) had me in her chair. Her energy gave she didnāt want to be there or do my hair since it was very thick. She complained multiple times about the thickness of my hair and after telling her to go light on the detangle since I have a sensitive scalp, she told me sheās been doing hair for years as if I challenged her expertise. Needless to say my scalp was throbbing after the constant pulling of my dry hair (youāre supposed to detangle while the hair is wet) she stopped doing my hair twice, once to eat and chat with her friends, and another time to go out to the parking lot with a friend. She told another lady with a Jamaican accent to do my hair while she was gone. The young lady obviously didnāt want to do my hair and was very ruff, nonchalant, and barely flat ironed my hair to the point where I told her Iāll just wait for Ms. B to get back from wherever she was. When Ms. B finally came back, she was very obnoxious while doing my hair and even ājokedā that I needed to tip her a good amount do to the thickness of my hair. She also got into a verbal altercation with two nail tech trainees who complained of her being obnoxious as well. When my hair was finished, I came out front where she was smoking to give her her tip, and she ājokedā again about how it shouldāve been more š Overall my silk press was cute but frizzed up by the time I got home and by the next day I had an afro. 0/10 would not recommend. A waste of time, money, and energy, but was very entertaining...
