We went with a group and loved it! Even if our voices were a bit raspy by the end of the night... This was my girlfriend's and my first time going to an Asian-style stateside, and I must say this place took a significant amount of research to find and was well worth it! Most of the other Asian-karaoke places only speak Korean and they usually have to find someone to speak English. So this is a relief for anyone that doesn't want to infringe on cultures.
For anyone wondering what is so special about "Asian-style" karaoke, it means you just get to be an idiot in front of your friends. You basically have your own private room for you and your friends to act a fool in for $6/hr/person on the weekend. We felt bad showing up after having dinner since I think they make some of their money on food and drink sales, but now we know for next time. Unlike Karaoke Melody 1, this place does NOT serve alcohol (yet, they're working on their liquor license I heard), which is a blessing in disguise since Tower (a liquor store) is right up the road for your BYOB needs. And they have bigger rooms than Karaoke Melody 1. We used the karaoke place for the mixers, again to support them a little where we could.
The place was very clean, looks like it had just been built. Great looking flat screens, an IPAD to choose your songs with (which is much easier than the menu system we used in japan), and a vast selection of american tunes. We were happy to find some Phoenix and other songs not strictly "traditional karaoke" stuff in addition to the classics. We had a room of like 10 people, but we saw rooms that hold up to like 50.
Being as harsh a critic as possible and trying to think of something for improvements, the videos were a bit lacking. The setups we had in Japan always had some kind of music video playing in the background, even if it was like the same three quirky Asian videos. And one of the Phoenix songs (Lisztomania) had the verses waaay off from the words, but this was the only song we saw like this and we played like 40. Nitt-picky I know, and not really the fault of the venue.
Bottom line: GO. Act a fool. It is a blast and will surely be a new...

I was nervous, when folks were calling a Karaoke spot about a room. On Buford Highway. I thought I was being set up. Because I never heard of Karaoke in a room. But, now I know and I love it!!!!
The spot is in a mini mall off Buford Highway so plenty of parking. This was a family sponsored night on the town, so I have no idea about the cost. But you go in, there is a full bar, you get some drinks and your room and head on in. Each room is set up with TV and audio equipment, table and couches. There were 5 of us and we got two mics and a ipad. The ipad was easy to work through to make our song selections. Your choices go into the cue, you can change the order, grab the mic and go at it!! Close the door or leave it open your choice!!
This was tons of fun!! I am not a fan of attempting to sing in front of a crowd, or waiting for people to struggle though weird song choices. You definitely have more control within your group and as long as your are with a good group of people its tons of fun!!
There were lots of song choices of different genres. I was concerned about the lyrics for Nirvana's Teen Spirit (Yes it was I that made the best selection of the night) but we still had a blast with it! The only down play was they don't come to the room to take orders you have to go out to the bar. Let me tell you if they had waiter service....... I might still be there. Great late night option since they stay open late!! I will definitely...
Read moreThis establishment allows their white patrons to use racial slurs. A white customer continually used the N-word while at the bar and not one employee, waiter, manager, or owner corrected him, or even attempted to do anything. Now, had me and my group of friends decided to correct this person on our own, then I’m sure we would’ve been the ones deemed in the wrong. But quite frankly, management is lucky that we did not disrupt their place of business after being made to feel uncomfortable by a white person, repeatedly using racial profanities. Next time management and ownership may not be so lucky to have a group of individuals who aren’t quick to react to someone wanting a negative response. That’s something they might want to think about the next time they give someone a pass for using racial slurs. And the one black employee (black guy with dreadlocks) that was working that night was too busy over charging on drinks and profiling other black customers, literally chasing them out of the door demanding to know if they had paid. He must be their lapdog and token black; there to confront the black customers on behalf of this racist establishment. Also there was this one younger asian guy in particular, who came off annoyed at me, and my friends for even being there, staring and rolling his eyes in the distance. Even as we walked to our cars, he’s staring at us as if we did something wrong. I would not recommend any black person or any person of...
