I'm working here for the 2024 season. The hours are 9am-5pm until June 5th, then they will change to the 8am-5pm time block for the remainder of the season. If you want the most thorough walk through of the Passport Book ask Darrell, it's a real pleasure to get his short class on the book. In regards to the stamps we have 2 cancellation stamps, Colter Bay's and Rockefeller's stamp. I highly encourage you to use these stamps on your postcards and books that you purchase from the gift shop as well. Christy and Sprinkles are a wealth of knowledge on the surrounding areas and can tell you where all the coolest hikes are as well as the Rangers. You can buy bear spray here and if you want a free class on how and when to use your bear spray the rangers will provide you with that. If you're traveling with the little ones, I highly encourage you to get them involved in the Junior Ranger program, it's really fun and educational all the answers to the scavenger hunt can be found inside the building. If you have time, go inside the Amphitheater and watch the movie 'Life on the Edge' that starts every 30 minutes starting at the top of the hour. Don't miss the Native American artifacts from the David T. Vernon collection, this is only a portion of the collection as the rest is down south in Tucson, AZ at a restoration center. Every Monday there will be a new Native American artist to demonstrate and sell their native artistry and traditions. You can grab a free copy of the map of the park and the seasonal newspaper which has all the hiking trails in the center of the paper. The permit office can provide you with boating and back country camping permits as well as the annual pass to the park, it is attached to this building on the outside. Hope to see you this season and you enjoy the visitor center as much as we enjoy...

This isn’t for the visitor center itself- but for the activities. We went on the 2 hour horseback ride and WHAT A SCAM. “Lake view xyz” it was through the dusty trees and we didn’t see anything. Afterwords we asked about it and they just gave excuses like “oh wildlife report/we have been telling them to change it” and ykw the rangers themselves don’t choose so it’s not their fault. But the rangers are incompetent. They didn’t put my or my sisters saddle on correctly, couldn’t take photos properly (less of a big deal), but most of all were not very kind. Very disappointed and a...

We took the family here to learn more about the Grand Tetons. The visitor center is tiny. The kids liked the bear stuffed in there. We got a map here of the park. The way we came in didn't have a gate. Do walk down to the bay. We walked out around it to the bigger body of water. It's a beautiful walk between the trees. To just walk out to the opening is only about 0.3 miles Long. It's handicap accessible and stroller friendly. Look for the sidewalk to the right of the visitor center for way down. If this review helps you, please give us a thumbs up!...

Colter Bay is one of the more affordable places to stay in this region. The cabins are the best value since they do include showers and electricity. The tent cabins are cold and the wood you have to use did not burn through the night, so you would have to load the wood several times a night to keep the fire going. The cabins also do not have any electrical slots to charge cell phone. If you want a shower that is $4.50 more per person. The wood is also $10 per box and you burn through one box per night. The tent cabins may not really save you money in the end.
