My husband, my three children, and I stayed in a double cabin in May 2025. The cabin was spacious and the location is great. My husband had stayed in a similar cabin at Colter Bay with some friends a few months prior and was excited to share the experience with us.
While we had an amazing time exploring the parks, we were unable to get any rest in our cabin because it was INFESTED with spiders. During our stay, we killed around 50 spiders. They were in the shower, on the walls, dropping down from the ceiling, in the beds, absolutely everywhere.
We notified the front desk our first night, and they sent someone from housekeeping to change our pillowcases since spiders had been on the beds. We didn’t push too much because it was the first weekend they were open for the season, and we thought a few spiders here and there were to be expected. The second day and night we saw SEVERAL more spiders, and we asked to be moved. The only option was a smaller cabin that would have been tight for the 5 of us, but we couldn’t handle anymore spiders. At this point we had killed over 30 spiders. Well, as soon as we entered that cabin we saw a handful of spiders in various spots and more alarmingly what appeared to be bed bugs on two of the beds. We let the front desk know, and went back to the original spider infested cabin. On day 3, we got a phone call from someone (maybe a manager) asking how to make things right, and he said he’d send someone from housekeeping to clean up the cobwebs and remove any visible spiders. When we got back to our cabin it was clear that no one had cleaned anything, and we spotted several more spiders. After killing over 50 spiders, we had enough and left Colter Bay. We moved to a hotel.
The front desk claimed they’ll give us a discount for our stay but for now we have been charged for 3 full nights.
What is interesting is that we traveled with friends and they did not see even one spider in their cabin. I don’t know why there was such a big difference between our experiences.
We did not get any rest while staying at Colter Bay and both cabins we saw were disgusting. I will NEVER be returning to...
Read moreWe were very disappointed with our recent stay at Colter Bay on August 2025. • Cabin pricing: We paid $340 for one night, which feels highly overpriced compared to other national park accommodations. For example, we have stayed in Yellowstone for nearly half the cost. Additionally, the cabins offer no Wi-Fi, which further diminishes the value. • Boat tour cost: We took the scenic boat tour for $182 ($59 per person) and felt this was a poor value. For comparison, during our July visit to Glacier National Park, we completed five boat tours—including at Many Glacier and Saint Mary—for about one-third (max $20 per person) of the price charged at Colter Bay. • Gift shop and amenities: Prices at the gift shop and across the location were consistently higher than what we’ve experienced at other national parks. • Parking and safety issue: On top of everything, when we arrived at night there was no electricity outside, so we had to rely on our car’s headlights to see. A large log had been moved from the parking area into the middle of the road. While parking, our car hit the log, and I had to get out and move it myself so others wouldn’t go through the same dangerous experience. Cabin numbers were also difficult to read in the dark, which made the situation even more stressful.
Overall, we were not impressed with the management or pricing structure. The experience did not offer anything unique compared to our frequent visits to other parks such as Mt. Rainier, North Cascades, Mt. Baker, and Olympic National Park.
Unfortunately, the cost and value at Colter Bay did not meet expectations, and we left feeling disappointed with the amount of money and time...
Read moreJust stayed for one night June 1, family of 4. Took some advice from other reviews and brought a little hand vacuum with us, used it to clean up a few bugs that were around the cabin when we arrived. We were in unit 211, close enough to the restaurant that all evening we smelled the burgers cooking on their grill, but close enough for an easy walk to the marina. Shower temperature took a bit to figure out, to me the handle was "backwards" - pointed to hot when the water ran cold, pointed to cold when the water ran hot. The 4:30 position was optimal for me - lots of hot water. Turned on the electric heater in the morning to take the chill off the floor, but was very warm and cozy during the night. Lots of lights on outside though, was hoping for a dark sky environment. The shared wall with the neighbor was thin, could hear them talk when we were in the bathroom, but closed the door and that muffled it enough that we couldn't tell what the neighbors were saying. The desk clerk recommended having Bear Spray even for roaming near the cabins, didn't see any bears but heard someone that saw one early in the morning at the marina. Expected a somewhat rustic cabin built 50+ years ago and met with those expectations. Would go again but might ask for a cabin further from...
