I want to give an honest review, as my experience was mostly good but I think potential renters could use this information. A few notes, both good and bad, to anyone looking for a venue- The venue is absolutely gorgeous! Everybody loved the scenery, and not much had to be added to decorate because it was so beautiful. The place is a bit hard to find, some of my guests got lost using GPS and missed the ceremony, even though there were simple directions written on the back of the invite. Make sure to warn your guest to use your directions, and not the GPS directions. There is plenty of parking, and the venue is handicap accessible. There are train tracks nearby- luckily a train did not go by during my ceremony, because the train is LOUD!! Trust me, the person showing us the venue said it would not be a distraction, but it is very loud- so fair warning. Also- the upstairs of the venue gets extremely hot. If you have a summer wedding, try to avoid using the upstairs. I contacted the venue about a week before the wedding voicing my concerns of the heat, and they gave me a very flippant, almost rude reply that the A/C is more than sufficient, but let me tell you now that it is not! I was a bit upset that they were not more helpful and that they had an attitude with me. There is not much insulation, and as soon as dinner was over all of the guests came downstairs where it was much cooler. So, just know that it will be very hot, regardless of what the vendor may tell you. They let you have plenty of time to set up, and we did our own cleaning after the wedding and got our full refund back. Make sure you take pictures though of where everything was before you start setting up so you know how to put everything back at the end of the night. We were very happy about the price, and that we could use our own catering and bartending services, which ended up saving...
Read moreMay 2018. Went for a wedding at the Josephina. Wedding was held outdoors behind the venue. Enough space for 125-150 people. It was warm, but there was a breeze and the wedding started at 6pm so it was starting to cool off a little. Inside, space is small, but was nicely decorated. There is seating downstairs as well as upstairs. The caterer did a great job. The food was well executed. Stuffed chicken and carved pork loin were the main entrees served buffet style. Enough room for dancing. Drinks were served outdoors. Right next door there are 2 different housing options for out of town guests. One is a beautiful 2 story home that can sleep up to 16 called the Hogan House. There are also studio cottages. There are also 3 (soon to be more) hotels in Dry Ridge only about a five minute drive away. main problem is the heat. The venue while air conditioned is not insulated. The upstairs was sweltering even with fans and a a/c unit. A few people didn't even stay for the reception because it was too hot. It's too bad because it really is a beautiful venue. If they can remedy that issue this would be the premiere place...
Read moreWhat's not to love about this venue in THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE KY!??!?! I' have actually worked here a few times doing hair and makeup for weddings and LOVE the set up, the layout and how you can have rustic glam all in one location. The bridal suite needs a few added amenities as far as heating and cooling and lighting go (from a makeup artist's standpoint) and there is a train that runs continuously, but seems to go by pretty fast. The view is gorgeous and they've done an amazing job in transforming this into a...
