Rancho Duarte Golf Course — Attraction in Duarte

Came here on a Sunday afternoon with a friend. Luckily it wasn't too crowded so we went out as a twosome. I didn't do any research on this course (besides hearing about it from my friend) so I was expecting to see a short par 72 course. So, it came as a surprise when I approached the first tee and saw a 50 yard par 3....

Anyways, this is a 9 hole executive course mainly with short par 3s and a few par 4s. I really wanted to bust out my driver, so I had to force it out on the par 4s, even though it would've been better to tee off with an iron due to my rusty short game. Some par 3s were less than 100 yards, which I wasn't expecting. We finished the course in about 2 hours. There was a logjam starting on the 3rd hole. It's a very short and forgiving course, so expect more beginners and delays.

We used to golf there frequently and were familiar with the course. The most recent experience was horrible. Unfortunately we were placed directly in front of the women’s club. Poor timing on the clubhouse’s part. Course play was very very slow. Course Marshall was inefficient, ineffective, rude, harassing us, telling the girls in the group we were playing too slow, calling the girls “hon” and “sweetie.” Our group informed him we were completely keeping up and that the group in front of us was very slow. He followed us most of the nine holes. We will not be returning and spending our money to support a course that treats consumers offensively. This excellent course boasts a prime location, covering East Los Angeles, just 0.7 miles from the 210 and 605 freeway exits, and boasts a popular Route 66 photo spot, perfect for executive and managerial practice. It offers 25 practice holes and a 9-hole executive putting green. Weekday crowds are minimal, so you'll never be caught out by slow groups or par 5s. There are several par 4s, and the greens are always excellent. The restaurant and bar are better than most nearby courses, and the food is excellent!
