I purchased a guitar for my son who is just starting the journey. I placed the order on Monday, July 4 with a confirmation that it will be delivered by Thu, max by Friday. When the status did not change to ship for a day, I called up and inquired, I was told it's on track for delivery by the promised date. To my surprise next day I found it got marked as back ordered and I had to again make multiple calls to get this sorted out and it was dispatched on Thu..post which the delivery date kept getting pushed by a day every other day. This was a gift for son who had his birthday on July-10 even after ordering ahead of time, I could not get it on time.
Finally, I received the guitar yesterday and to my surprise the guitar did not appear new, the strings and frets has rust at multiple places. The top board has minor dents and other cosmetic issues. I was getting an open box at my local store at the very first place and the only reason I ordered it over the call centre is to ensure I get a brand new guitar.
I have heard great things about Guitar centre from my friends who are into music and when my son is starting bis music journey. I thought Guitar center would be my go to place over the next few years but going by this experience I am not sure if I will shop again and/or advocate for Guitar centre.
I expected a better experience, it was not worth spending this much time and energy, I should have ordered it from...
Read moreI don't usually make negative reviews, but in this case, I think of this as fair warning. Guitar Center markets their Lessons department as "World Class Music Instruction" on their website. At this particular location, I want to say that this marketing pitch is appearing to be a complete lie. I have been in the Lessons waiting room and have listened to the girl talk who apparently does the signups and administration. I think her name is Lizzy. She treats the instructors with no respect at all, and speaks in a denigrating way behind their backs to others. When I spoke with her about signing up, which I did not do, she was curt and pushy. I was interested in one instructor who I heard playing in the store and thought was very good. As it turns out, He no longer works there. No wonder. There seems to be much turn over of instructors, my guess is that management is only interested in bringing people in to drive their retail sales quota and not interested in education really. My recommendation; if you want a professional mentor for music instruction, don't bother with the fact that this place is in a convenient location, find a skilled teacher who is in an environment that is suitable for competent instruction and mentoring. Really, don't go here, it's really not a friendly place...
Read moreI went here to get some earplugs because loud music exacerbates my tinnitus. The young man who helped me explained how to read the backs of the packages to determine which earplugs would work best for me.
I was impressed with the customer service I received here because often times, in many customer service situations I've encountered, the reps will just point you to where you can find what you're looking for. This time, I was not only shown where to find the product, but I was educated about which earplugs would work best for me. He also explained that they don't accept returns for the earplugs, as well. I still use them today (though, I'm thinking of coming back to get something that'll cancel even more sound).
Great place to visit and get the information you're looking for (in my case, anyway). We also learned about the microphones and DJ equipment. My kids are really into music and music production, so the information we received about that was...
