Interesting attraction. Quick and cheap with great views of Dubuque, the Mississippi River and the tri state area. A definite must see. CASH ONLY! So be prepared when you pay at the top. Check out the website before you go to read about the interesting history of this elevator. Takes less than five minutes to ride up or down and you get to see beautiful views on the ascent and also when you get to the top. There is an observation area where you can get great photos of the bridge, Dubuque, the Mississippi river and also the interesting street art on the buildings. $1.50 per person for a one way trip or $3.00 per person for a round trip. Each cart has four seats on either side so a group of eight could go up together. At the top of the elevator on the hill is a beautiful historic neighborhood with nice streets to walk through and get a...

We went here to check it out. The operator was very nice. Very reasonably priced for a round trip at $3 per person. I would park at the top and then write it down. because, there is hardly any parking at the bottom of the bluff. However, there is plenty of street parking on top of the bluff. You can either go one block to the north to 5th Street to get to the top. Or, you can go a couple more blocks to the South for another road to get to the top of the bluff. My only suggestion would be to have a stamp or wristband of some sort to indicate that you paid for the round trip. The gentleman at the ticket booth got a little confused when we wrote it down and then walked around downtown did some shopping, and then rolled back up with some other people. However, he was very nice and did remember that we paid for...

I love this attraction! I visited around a decade ago and had this in mind as a stop that I needed to include during this visit because I enjoyed it so much the first time. Unfortunately, it was closed the first day we stopped by due to it being off-season. Thankfully, our trip was extended, and we were able to include it after all. This time, I had my 2.5 year old and my 4 year old with me. They were jazzed to go on the elevator and weren't scared one bit. My 2.5 year old was very upset when I wouldn't let him go on the ride again. The tickets are reasonable priced, some of the staff are really friendly, and there are great views from the top. Make sure to take some time to take in the view of the city. We'll definitely be stopping by the next time we're...

The Fenelon Place Elevator is a cute and very creative system to get people from the street of Dubuque to the top of the hill looking over the entire City and Mississippi River. You are able to see Wisconsin and Illinois as well on the other side of the Mississippi river at the top. Kids will love it. Just keep in mind it is a very cramped car for really only people. Wheelchairs and strollers wont fit. The cable car itself was created by a local man that wanted to go home for lunch every day. So instead of walking the long way up the hill he created this train/pully car system to do just that. Remember to bring cash they dont take cards and its 4 dollars pp up and back down. Totally worth taking a few minutes or hour to take in the entire city of Dubuque.

They trolly ride is a historic site. The project started in 1882. If you arrive at the trolly station on the top of the hill which is the south gate, you will have a very good view of the Mississippi River and Illinois and Wisconsin in addition to the two bridges that connect Iowa to those two states. The trolley itself is two dollars For one-way ride and four dollars for round-trip. The trolly car has limited seats— 4 to 6 people can fit comfortably inside it. It travels slow. There’s some wildflowers on the path down the hill but it is mostly grass and trees. It would have been nice if there were more flowers on the path down the hill.
